Xbox Capcom VS SNK 2:EO available...

Capcom VS SNK 2:EO should be now available - if you haven't played it, it is a street-fighter style 2D game that features a number of Capcom characters (i.e. Street Fighter) and SNK characters (i.e. King of Fighters/Fatal Fury). It also supports XBOX Live, so I will definitely snag this by the end of the week. I just wish ASCII would make a fighting gamepad for XBOX.

IIRC it's the first online fighting game in the US. So far reviews have been good, too, regarding the online aspect. Probably worth picking up.

Ruined -- as soon as i get this, we'll have to play a few matches. I can't wait to have some 2D fighting action online! Though, i have my eyes more set on Marvel Vs. Capcom 2

So does everyone else. That's why they are releasing this one first

Same for me as Brian. I'm fairly uninterested in the characters for this one and for me, that's half the fun.

But definitely psyched for MVC2.

Here are some updated impressions:

I had some time to play this game online and test it out.

By default, Light/Medium attacks are done with the colored face buttons. Strong attacks are done with either the black and white buttons or the triggers. Buttons are customizable.

You will probably find that controller S is the best controller for this game, despite its placement of the black and white buttons. Hopefully, ASCII will release fighter pads like they have for past consoles. For now, though, it's either Controller S or an arcade stick (X-Arcade Solo works nicely). One has to take note that the X-Arcade Solo currently does not seem to support the XBOX Live Communicator/voice chat, however.

As for online play, most of the games I played had zero lag. No slowdown, no stutter, nothing that indicated I was playing online, except the other person in the XBOX communicator making fun of me that I lost. The only time I got lag was when I was playing against people from another country, and even then it was minor.

The lineup of characters is immense, with a huge amount of your favorite Capcom and SNK brawlers. There are plenty of different options when fighting too, including "Grooves" which allow you to basically select how you use your super attack, and slightly modify some of your available attack options. You can also pick between EO (Easy Operation) and AC (Arcade) mode. With the former, you can use the right analog stick to do special moves. With the latter, you do standard pad/button combos. When playing online, you can choose whether to fight only against those on EO mode, only against those on AC mode, or you can choose to allow the opponent to pick whatever he wants. It seems to work out quite well.

All-in-all, a must buy for any 2D fighting fan!

PS - KOTOR won't be out until May at the earliest.

There are some damn good players on-line. I always considered myself to be a decent 2D fighting game player. I was always able to beat my friends in really any Street Fighter game. I played a few worldwide games, and got smoked. Now I have a losing record, and some people won't even play with me now. Looks like I'll have to find myself some noobies and give them a good whooping.

Hey Ruined, would you recommend this game to someone that doesn't have live. I am a huge 2d fighter fan and that is all I still play on my dreamcast. Thanks

Same here! Beat all my friends, yet get my ass handed to me playing online. Here's a tip, search for people in "Console" mode, they usually pick EO and suck, and you can still use AC/arcade controls.

Slip: If you played Capcom VS SNK for Dreamcast, this is essentially a juiced up version of that game (with a bunch of new characters, stages, etc). Still a great game to own. It also has the best looking sprites of all three console versions. I don't see how a 2D fighter fan couldn't pick this up, as it is two of the greatest 2D fighting companies best together in a game.

In terms of gameplay, this is the best 2D fighter out there IMHO. Graphically, it can't really compete, since it is an older port. After playing Guilty Gear X2 for the past few weeks, this game looks pretty bad, but still plays great.
