Unreal 2

Anyone played Unreal 2 yet? If so how is it? I've heard different things from different people. How's the solo player game? Also how does it run on your system?

I've got it...and beat it. It's fun, of course you realize there's no multiplayer with Unreal2 so once you beat the SP it's over, and the SP isn't all that long so it's kind of a tough call. Overall the game is fun, it's not Half-Life revolutionary in terms of experience or Aliens vs Predator 2 in terms of story, atmosphere, scares, but it definately is an entering Sci-Fi FPS experience...just don't expect anything ground breaking. Though there are a few inspired moments near the end of the game.

As for how the game ran...it ran fine on my system, 1024x768, all graphic settings maxed...with the exception of shadows I think which was on medium.

My Specs:
AMD AthonXP 2000+ 1.67ghz
512mg PC2700 DDR Ram
SBLive!
Geforce4 Ti 4400 (Overclocked to 4600)
20gig Hard drive

So...in conclusion...heh, lemme put it this way...if you haven't played Aliens vs Predator 2 yet, do yourself a favor and pick it up instead of Unreal2. And if your a die hard fan of great eye-candy and any kind of Sci-Fi FPS with a little money burnin' a hole in your pocket, go ahead and get Unreal2.

Thanks Agalloch, I'll probably wait on it until it comes down in price. I don't have Alien vs. Predator 2, is it really awesome? I need to pick it up. I just got a new laptop so I'm still catching up on all the PC games that I missed, plus playing PS2 and Gamecube games that I got for christmas.

Thanks for the recommendation on alien.

Aliens vs. Predator 2 should be discounted at most retailers (I know it's $19.99 at Best Buy and Target). I'm holding off for now, hoping that they'll bundle this with the (lacklustre) expansion pack for a price point of ~$25 - 30.

From what I've read on the PC gaming forums, I'm holding off on Unreal II until it's been heavily discounted, i.e. under $30. I should have a Radeon 9500 Pro or 9700 Pro by then.

AvP2 is VERY awesome...you get to play three campaigns, one as Marine, one as Predator, and one as Alien through one storyline where all the characters intersect, and you even run into yourself while playing, it's very well done. The marine campaign is by the best...EXTREMELY atmospheric and hella scary...proabably one of the scariest games ever, it's fantastic. Ya gotta play it in the dark with the sound turned up. Don't hesitate to pick it up.

Thanks for the recommendation! It's 19.99 on ebgames.com so I'll probably order it from them unless they have it at the EB in the mall.
