Xbox Third Person Shooters - Recommendations, anyone?

Having just finished Max Payne I'm itching to play another great third person shooter. I'm considering, and will probably end up getting, Hitman 2. And I've tried Dead to Rights and didn't really care for the hand-to-hand and the mini-games.

So... besides Max Payne, Hitman 2 and Dead to Rights can anyone recommend any third person shooters for either Xbox or Gamecube?

Oh, and I should probably also mention that I'm not a huge fan of stealth games, so Splinter Cell is out. I know I'm sort of contradicting myself, since I'm considering Hitman 2, but I like the aspect of being able to go in guns blazing if I so choose. A little stealth every now and again can't hurt, but what I'm really after is the action that Max Payne delivered.

The first thing that came to mind when I saw "third person shooters" was Max Payne. Really though, that's the only one I've played that I can think of that I thought was worth it. (The other ones you mentioned are the only others that come to mind.)

If your not into stealth, then Hitman 2 is DEFINITELY not the game for you.

It's more of a third-person sneaker. You can finish some of the missions with brute force but most of the time if you go in with guns blazing, you end up dead......quickly.

Hmmm, I really don't know specifically for Xbox & Gamecube, but I'll list some PC ones in chance they're out for those systems.

Well, let's see....first off, while the game is a little dated now, it still looks good and is a lot of fun - Heavy Metal.

Mafia
Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast (Switch between third and first.)
Drakan, which I know is out for PS2, so maybe those other systems.

All I can think of at the moment.

GUNVALKYRIE.
FUN (extra emphasis on this), gorgeous, and very difficult.
The game brings back the good old days of just blasting the fucking shit out of everything.
And, if you consider it a third person shooter (it's really a rail shooter), Panzer Dragoon Orta. I cannot stress how AWESOME PDO is. It is a beautiful, extremely fun, and addictive old-school shooter. It is worth every penny you spend on it. If you're a fan of new-school stuff (a.k.a not a real gamer), it might lose your interest after a while, but if you're a hardcore or even casual fan of old-school games (real gamers), it'll last you a lifetime. I've played it at my friend's when I spent the night there, and I played it all day. I fucking loved the game; I only wish I had a Xbox just so I could play it (I'm a hardcore old-school shooter fan; I can play older games like 1942, Contra and even Defender for hours, and newer games like Zero Gunner 2, Giga Wing, and Ikaruga for hours). I can't recommend it enough.

Yeh, I'd second Panzer Dragoon Orta and Gunvalkyrie. Also, Jedi Knight 2 is available for XBOX, and Mafia will be avail this summer, though out of the four of these, Gunvalkyrie is the closest to a "third person shooter."

Great! Thanks for all the recommendations everyone. I'll definately give Gun Valkyrie a rent and while I hadn't considered PDO as a third person shooter, it might still do the trick.

Also, thanks for the warning on Hitman 2. I was just going to get it sight unseen, but now I think I'll rent it too. There's just something about being an all-out assassin that intrigues me, stealth or no stealth, so I think it's worth a rent.

Thanks again.
