MvC 2 Not online, but WWE Raw2 IS

I have read on another forum that Marvel vs Capcom 2 will not have online play, but a MS rep. said that Enter the MAtrix and WWE Raw 2 will have Live support( hopefully this means online play and not just Dl content) but seeing that raw 2 has been pushed back to september there is a good chance of it having online play.

well thats cool that a wrestling game will finally have online play i hope it will have stuff like updates to the game like new stars and updates to the ones in it and it would be cool if there was a download a pay per view thing where you can download the last ppv they just had and have everything it had like run ins and other stuff.

i dont see why MVC2 is not online since i think on ps2 its online

As far as I know the reason MVC2 was delayed from last November to this year was to add Live multiplayer (like CVS2) - at least, that was the last official word I know of from Capcom. Enter the Matrix was originally supposed to be online exclusively on XBOX, but I'm not sure if that is still the case. As for WWE RAW 2, I haven't heard anything.

Would be interesting to play WWE Raw 2 on Xbox Live.

ruined: yeah i know Marvel vs capcom 2 was delayed to implamnate(sp?) live support, but supposedly it has been pulled, and a ms rep. said that enter the matrix and wwe raw 2 will have "live support" knowing them we will only get dl content instead of online play (which would still be cool for raw) only if there are updates all of the time.

Jeez if MvC2 isn't online then I'll be stuck with CvSNK2EO, which is decent but not nearly as good as 'Marvel'. Damn, that sucks.

CVS2 was OK because it had something new, but MVC2 is just going to be a port of an old game with nothing special new. I wish I kept my DC version, I'm not spending any significant amount of cash again for the same game again.

Believe me, I will. I have no incentive to trade in my DC copy now...

"Thank you for your recent letter.

It was our intention for a long time to have Marvel VS Capcom 2 X-Box LIVE compatible. The game was being developed to work with LIVE. Unfortunately, due to some recent legal issues beyond Capcom's control, the LIVE capabilities of the game had to be taken out. That's is all that we can say about it.

We apologize and understand if this disappoints the many gamers that have been waiting for an online version of Marvel VS Capcom 2, but faced with the dilemma of releasing the game without LIVE support or not releasing it at all, Capcom decided to release it without LIVE support.

We will be sure to let you and all our avid fans out there know of any new developments as they arise. You should also continue to monitor our web site for the latest information regarding Promotions, New Game Releases, and Industry News."

Any ideas?

Sounds like Microsoft's beef. The only thing I can think of ("recent legal issues beyond Capcom's control" -- WTF?) is that Capcom wanted to do something with Live that MS didn't want them to do.

Or, could it not be possible that they made some deal with Sony that they couldn't release a version of the game with more features for another console? Or perhaps Nintendo or Sony bought exclusive rights to an online version of the game?

Actually, my brother came up with a thought that Marvel might have already licensed out online play for some (or all) of the characters in MVC2. They supposedly have a MMORPG in development.

Nice work, that sounds the most feasible of all so far.

That's really too bad, MvC2 is still very popular in the arcades (at least here in NYC), I see people play it all the time and having a riot watching them bust out hundred hits combos... Would be fun to get beat up online with live...

Too bad, I agree with what most of you are saying, no reason to "upgrade" from the DC version....

The only reasons now is the great DPAD of Controller S and that MVC2 will now be on your 'primary' system. Whether thats worth $30 to you is another question. Hopefully Capcom will cut the price of the game.

My Dreamcast is still just as easilly played as my Xbox so I will definitely not be "upgrading."
