Anybody else pickup Freelancer yet? If not and you're a PC gamer...GET IT!
I played the demo that came on the demo disc with my PC Gamer magazine. Two days later I bought the full version. It's incredibly fun. Great graphics, great gameplay. If you're into space sims then you need to add this one to your collection. |

Been playing the demo. The mouse control works remarkably well, a lot better than I expected. I dunno, seems like a lot of down time between missions. I just want to fly around and shoto stuff. Story is cool, but might get old after a while.

Actually something that's not explained in the demo are the jobs you can take in between the missions that you are assigned. If you go to one of the space ports or dock onto one of the space stations, you can get jobs by either talking to people in the bar, or by looking at the job boards that are in each of the bars as well. You can earn a lot of money with these jobs which will allow you to upgrade your ship or buy a new one all together. |

.Basically there is a story in which you get asked to fly in certain missions. In between the story mode you can take off-jobs which you get assigned by either talking to people in bars or getting them off the various job boards. Early on almost all the jobs are simply flying off to some sector and killing all the rogues. You have a reputation that you have to worry with. If you have a bad reputation with a particular group then more then likely you won't get much work from them and quite possibly you'll get attacked by them if you come across them in space. As you earn credits you can of course upgrade your ship or buy a new one. Or you can change from flying a fighter to flying a cargo ship. I've seen them in the inventory to buy. Then I'm guessing you'll become a trader of some kind. It's really fun. |

Keep me posted. I've heard good things from people who never played Privateer, Privateer 2 and... damn, some other game series.
BUT - according to people who have played those game, Freelancer sucks. And as a guy who loved Privateer 2, I am hesitant.

Well if you have broadband, download the demo. If you don't look for a PC Gamers mag with the demo disc included. If you can't find it either way let me know. I'll be happy to burn the demo to a disc and send it to you. |

[/brainfart] Hey, I've been too busy to think! Thanks for the offer, though.
