Never played it. However, many consider it to be the best online game so far for PS2 or XBOX (this being game reviewers). It looks a lot like the free American Army game to me.

You know what's bullshit. I was at Gamestop today and picked up a catalog. $24.99 for those three titles (each.) There is a absolutely no reason for a company that big to charge more than $19.99 for those.

This game is awesome...I've been playing online since February...I've tried buying new games for my PS2 - college Football, Indiana Jones, Matrix, Madden...but this game ends up back in my machine and stays there....I've never played a game so addictive.

I've got about 8 close friends that all have it - and we all play 3 times every week...If you can avoid public rooms with cheaters and stay with people you trust...you will play for hours and be Jonesin' for more....No game has entrigued me this much, except maybe SOCOM 2, which comes out in November...(hopefully cheater free) (which I also heard will be compatible with the new PS2 Hard drive - new patches, maps, weapons)

If you have money to burn for a couple of months buy it....but definitely get the one with the headset...or buy a 3rd party headset that's compatible...You'll want it for single player and online.

Single player is fun - but online is where it's at.....SOCOM 2 should be better in both aspects....

I haven't played Ghost Recon....but others that have, say SOCOM is far superior...(maybe not graphics) but gameplay replay value....competition is fearce

I'm sure it won't take long for codes to surface.

How does the headset work in single player?

Sorry, I don't frequent the boards as often as I used to...sorry to leave ya hanging...

The headset works in both single player and multi-player (online)...

Single player - you can direct your AI team mates to do different things...you have an alpha team and a bravo team...

you can tell Bravo to "lead, stealth, run, or attack to crosshairs" or some other predetermined checkpoint...
Hold fire, defuse bomb, hold position, cover area, fire at will, deploy grenade, satchel charge, etc...

It works really well - although your teammates' AI is a little sketchy sometimes..and your sidekick "Boomer" usually gives away your position...Single player is supposed to be vastly improved for SOCOM II...the programmers even joke about how "Boomer" now is retired and has a desk job...The new sidekick replacing Boomer will now stay put and when you go into sniper mode will work as your spotter, telling you where your enemy is coming from and will watch your back....

SOCOM II will also support lan play and the new harddrive...It's gonna rock...

Get SOCOM 1 if you wanna practice your aiming skills to get ready for SOCOM II - I guarantee you'll want to log in some hours before taking on the competition in SOCOM II...(alot of the same maps will be included in SOCOM II with subtle differences) so if you are a Newbee you might want to stick with the newer maps that people haven't mastered yet...you might just get lucky...

SOCOM II in November
