eBay or EB Games?
If I have games I no longer want, I usually sell them on eBay. No, scratch that, I ALWAYS sell them on eBay. I've never traded one in at EB Games or any other place that buy/sell used games.
Does any of you have experience doing both? When do you think you get the most out of the sale? Ebay or EB Games? I'm not necessarily interested in getting cash, generally I turn right around and buy games for the money I make when I sell one. Any advice? KM |

Usually a used game store won't give you much of anything for your games, because they need to turn such a profit on selling the games later. I'd go with eBay. I always make more using it.

We should try a buy/sell want/trade thread or section here?
EBay will usually get you better, but takes longer, sometimes you would be surpised what they pay, Gamestop seems to be the worse. Sometimes EB has deals like a free new game if you trade in 3 used games (GC,PS2,X-Box) or coupons with $5 extra cash |

I usually sell or trade games with people I know instead of doing the store thing. I end up giving a lot of good deals, however I haven't had a game system iin a long time, so I haven't had to trade or sell games in a while.

That's all I have to say. Oh, and eBay for me. Although, working at an overpriced video store I do trade in games there sometimes. Since our prices are so insanely high, the trade in value is usually just as high. I just traded in Blinx for $18 credit and Resident Evil (GCN) for $16. Before that I traded in Grand Theft Auto 3 for $18 to put towards VF4: Evolution. |

Doesn't ebay charge around $5 to sell a game around $30? I'm trying to sell my xbox games right now. I've got some recently released ones i'm trying to sell. |

The insertion fee for a regular item opening between $0.01 and $9.99 is $0.30, between $10.00 and $24.99 it's $0.55 and between 25.00 and 49.99 it's $0.55. The final value fee for an item closing between $25.00 and $49.99 is $1.10. So for your example, let's take the middle insertion fee of the three available to you and say you opened the auction between $10.00 and $24.99 and the final bid came in at $30.00. You'd then have a final listing fee of $1.65. Provided you did not choose any other listing options such as Buy it Now, Reserve Price, gallery listing, etc. Go to http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/fees.html for a complete description of their fee system. Now, if there WERE such a forum, and if we were allowed to buy/sell games as well as trade (as opposed to the DVD section where you can only to trades), then I'd definately be into that. The way it's organized in the DVD Trading Post section is pretty straightforward. Someone post a trade they're willing to do, and upon completion of the trade they make another post in the thread with the words "trade completed." Once in a while the mods will check for posts like that, and close any threads that have "trade completed" in them. Doesn't seem like that much of a hassle to me. But again, maybe I'm totally misinterpreting IKEA's post. In which case you can just slap me with a wet trout.KM |

People are free to trade games, at their own risk, in the trading forum. We don't want to get money involved, and we (the mods) don't want to be held accountable for bad purchases. If you'd like to sell, you're free to use ebay. And, unfortunately, what's the incentive to the mods? We all do this for free -- we're not making any money off of this, and we'd prefer for our members not to either. After a few problems with some "new" members selling products, and a few people getting burned, we'd prefer just to play it safe.
I've had good luck with selling at half.com however. Just set your own price. Though, they take about 15% of the sale.

I've only ever sold them to GameStop, well actually I traded a bunch of poo in so I could get my PS2 last Summer. I've never sold anything on eBay [but I'd like to]. I'd say go with eBay though because you'll make more money for sure.

My personal take on the trading forum is that at the end of the day, I just don't want to see any members get burned. Even if that means making them unhappy by not being able to trade. I'd rather see no trading as their are so many other, and better IMO, options than our humble forum. But since there was a fairly sized and vocal demand for it, we acquiesced and came up with the restrictions.

Ok I went to ebgames and sold my old games. I planned to sell my games for $30 and halo for $25 online but went to eb and got $30. I had people who wanted to buy my games but they wanted $5 off each title. I think it's easier and less risky by selling it at the store. But don't go to gamestop, now that i know how little they pay for used games i will never buy any games from them.
