I know it's early as the release date is March 2004, but I thought I'd start a thread where we can post details, information, etc about this game.
Manufacturers description: Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow, is the next instalment in the adventures of Sam Fisher--the anti-terrorist agent and all-round stealthy guy. The game will bring back more of the single-player intrigue that made the original game a bestseller. With exciting new action scenes and a strong cinematic feel, the player will experience new and even more realistic surroundings. Pandora Tomorrow will the be the first stealth game ever to feature multi-player online missions allowing several players to simultaneously share Sam Fisher's shadowy world of espionage. I, for one, am looking forward to this title. I hope it offers a co-op game mode on one XBOX, that would be sweet. There are screen shots and a a game trailer at pandoratomorrow.com. It looks like there is another NSA operative helping Sam in the trailer. |

It's getting ever closer to its release (unless it gets put back) and more details have been released about the game and its Live multiplayer game.
The Live game will put two NSA agents with non-lethal weapons and third person view against two mercenaries with lethal weapons and first person view. The agants will have to retrieve information from a PC, both sides will have various gadgets and when two opponents lock up (I assume the choke hold) they are able to communicate with each other via their headsets. Here's a trailer showcasing some of the Live multiplayer game: http://www.gametrailers.com/gt_vault...l_pt_multi.mov A host of new moves have been introduced into this sequel and enemy AI has been beefed up. GameSpot have quite a bit of information, footage, and screenshots on this upcoming title. |

That game trailer is pretty sweet. I enjoyed the first game quite a bit, so I'll definitely give this one a shot. The online co-op play seems very cool, just so long as you have a capable partner. The online battles may not be as action packed as a FPS like Halo or Unreal, but I think the whole cat and mouse game will offer a fun alternative. Now, all I have to do is get Live before this game comes out.

A couple of new multiplayer trailers can be found here:
http://news.teamxbox.com/content.php?id=5507 They're Windows Media Player files (I couldn't view them from my work PC, I guess I don't have the correct Codec(s)). |

Those Live movies do look incredibly nice. Still, those are ideal gameplay movies, I wonder how often it will actually turn out that well. I can see this being a very annoying game online with some real jerks to play against.

But of course all Microsoft has to do in order to try to make a few more dollars is to reach down into that big pocket of theirs and shell out a few extra bucks to UbiSoft (which they often like to do because they design the games based on the capabilities of the Xbox since it has the best hardware and then port over to the other systems)

Those trailers were very cool...if the actual gameplay is like that, I'll be very happy.

Man, this game is getting fantastic reviews, EGM even gave it game of the month. They also raved about the multiplayer, saying it is the best online console game yet. I think this will be the game that will make me get off my ass and get XBOX live.

I haven't gotten into any of the prior Splinter Cell games, although I've read a good deal of Tom Clancy's books.
I just nabbed the demo for Pandora Tomorrow, so after I beat Prince of Persia, I look forward to giving this a whirl.

THere is a bug that has been found on the Xbox Live page in the menu. You may want to hold off purchasing until its fixed.

As an added bonus, the price might drop to $30 before they release the patch, so you'd be saving money, too!

My copy arrived yesterday and I have to say I'm quite impressed.
The graphics and animation are smooth as ever and the DD 5.1 is nice. Michael Ironside is back as Sam Fisher's voice, but Lambert sounds like a different voice. There are some nice animations for things like drawing his gun when hanging for example. The opening level acts as a tutorial. The buttons have changed slightly and I'd say the inventory is more intuitive, for example you don't have to select your fibre optic cable or lock pick, they appear as actions to select when you are at a door (if one needs to be picked). My friend was round while I was playing it and said the PS2 version of SC was like this so I guess they have applied that upgraded control method to SC: PT. The SWAT roll is pretty cool and Sam now has a whistle and some binoculars (again the binoculars were a feature of PS2 SC). When you are hanging and pull your legs up then draw your gun, Sam hangs upside down. When you're carrying a body to hide the shadow indicator flashes to let you know you're in a nice dark place. One thing that's incredibly annoying is the shine emmited from the green lights on Sam's goggles and communicator and most other lights that you're close to, it's hard to describe, but the shine looks a bit white and very pixelated and I have to say it's very distracting. This was not present in SC and I can't believe this went unnoticed throughout the development of PT. GameSpot refer to this in their review too. I haven't got Live, but there are two tutorials that you play the first time you go to the multiplayer menu and set up a profile. In one your a Shadownet Spy and in the other you're a Merc. The controls are slightly different to one player as a Spy and you're not against any enemies in either one, they just get you used to the controls and feel of each character. The infrared beam emmited by both guns is neat. The Mercs' assault rifle has a torch, infrared beam, and zoom mode for sniping and there elctromagnetic and motion sensor vision modes are cool .Both the Spies and Merc have their pros and cons. The Spies move faster than the Mercs for example, but the Mercs have lethal force. I have to say from the tutorials I'm liking the Mercs and their gadgets, they're bad a$$es! Just from playing the tutorials the online multiplayer looks like it will be tremendous fun and challenging. The graphics are not as good on multiplayer, but are still very good, I guess this is to help reduce lag and to keep it as smooth as possible. I've only played the first mission so far and am at my second checkpoint. Have fun. Last edited by MJZ : 03-26-2004 at 09:13 AM. |

Just picked this up along with Rainbow Six 3... (I'm a fucking mad-man)... anyway, the game is excellent. The storyline is aruguably not as good, but all other points have been updated for the better. The graphics have been notched up a slight bit, control is more intuitive, the voices are mostly the same but the new Lambert is better (David Hysbert from 24)... everything is going great. I'll post more eventually, or link to an IGN review... in any case, any fan of the first will love this just the same.
P.S. The train level is fucking amazing. |

^^ Yeah the train level is awesome. I failed the mission many times but I don't mind it because it's kind of fun to go through it again.
I did finally beat this but it will take a LOT of retries. The thing that bugs me is that the Xbox version lacks the auto-saves of the PC, so you may go clinically insane at various points in the game playing the same section over and over. I'm going to buy the original SC now. I never played that one but I'm hooked now.
