You all said it wasn't true....Zelda Collectors Edition

IGNCube has first details on the Legend of Zelda: Collectors Edition disc! Yes people the rumors are true, the disc will feature The Legend of Zelda, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, and a demo of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker! It looks set to be a pack-in with new Gamecubes, but IGNCube speculates that it may also be available to those who preorder The Legend of Zelda: The Four Swords. No release date has been mentioned, but we'll let you know as soon as we here more. Oh man this is so awesome!!

-------------------------------------------------------------------

True Zelda Love
Zelda Collector's Edition brings four games and a demo to GameCube.

October 06, 2003 - Earlier this year, rumors ran rampant that Nintendo would release another Legend of Zelda bonus disc (similar to the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time pre-order bonus) that would contain several of the classic titles. But with no confirmation from Nintendo the rumors were discredited and all prospects of a Zelda compilation disc were forgotten.

However, Nintendo has recently released artwork to retailers depicting a Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition disc. The disc will feature The Legend of Zelda, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, and a demo of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. From the available artwork, it looks like this disc will be included as a pack in with new GameCubes, although we hope we'll also see it as a bonus for those who order The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords. While it most likely will be a straight port much like the Ocarina of Time disc, this is still a must have treat for all Zelda fans.

We'll update you with release date and how exactly to obtain as a copy as soon as the information is released. Meanwhile, check out the artwork yourself in our media pages below.

You didn't read the fine print? You have to buy it on the GBA. :p

If I learned anything from the OOT bonus disc, it's that I should wait a few weeks for everyone to trade it in and buy it for $5 - $15.

All you have to do is preorder the game and receive the bonus disc. Then you just cancel the order. Either you get your 5 back or you paid 5 for the bonus disk. I know people have done this in the past for Wind Waker. Rumor had it though, that they were going to stop this with MK: DD's bonus disc, but I haven't heard anything. Its shyed me away from it because it doesn't give anyone any real incentive to preorder. The Rebel Strike one was a stretch, but the 1982 Arcade game is something interesting to play since I was 3 when it first came out. However, nothing beats the OOT for Cube with Wind Waker.

Nintendo is smart doing this as a pack in. By not packing in Metroid, Mario, or Zelda they basically make sure people will buy ONE of those titles, while still being able to offer a pack in. With the success of such deals, I would not be surprised if with the launch of the next system Nintendo did not do the same thing. How about when you buy your next Nintendo system you get a DVD with all the Mario games, including Sunshine, as a pack in? People would go nuts for such a deal.

Not that I wouldn't mind buying another gamecube, I think it sucks that they are adding OOT to this package instead of Link to the Past. I know that its out on GB, but I think that you might as well include all of them as a set.

I remember back in the SNES days when Link to the past was just coming out, I had hoped that they would do a "Zelda All-Stars" similar to the Mario All-Stars pack. I can't wait for the announcement of the Mega Man collection coming out next year.

They should put both Oracles and Link's Awakening on it seeing as how those are no longer in production. (Although I see a lot of excess Oracles stock everywhere still.) I completely understand why Link to the Past isn't on there. It'd be death for sales.

(Besides, I already have the GBA cart and two copies of the SNES cart. )

I think the idea was with those four games on disc and with the gameboy player you can now play any Zelda game on the Gamecube that was ever made (well except those CDI games that don't count)

Latest reports say it should come out like a normal game for current Gamecube owners, I guess we will see.

I was thinking about just flat out passing on a GameCube, but I'm sold as soon as this hits the market.
Hope it's soon.
