Xbox Rogue Squadron=good news / Outrun=bad news

Rumors suggest a new game is coming to the XBOX next fall entitled Rebel X from Lucasarts. What is it? Again, according to rumor, it will be a special edition trilogy of Rouge Squadron 1, 2, and 3. This is still rumor.

In more confirmed, but bad, news, Sega has announced that Outrun and Virtua Cop 3 are NOT coming to XBOX. Odd news, thought to be because of the poor Japanese XBOX market.

Sources: IGN and GameSpot

You have a link to the SEGA story? Just curious because I know Gamespot posted that a jap magazine reported that Outrun and VC3 would not be coming to XBOX (which SEGA did not comment on or confirm)... However, that wouldn't make much sense unless they were just talking about the Japanese market. I mean, SEGA publishes unknown stuff like Otogi in the US, but they won't publish Outrun? I can understand VC3 if it needs a special peripheral (plus Time Crisis has taken over VC's spot in the US recently), but Outrun would be a big seller in the US.

I've thought about buying a Gamecube so I can enjoy Rogue Squadron III and the cooperative feature it offers for RSII. I might just hold out to see if this comes to fruition including co-op mode.

Here's a response supposedly from a Factor 5 team member on a German gaming forum:
Quote:

The "message" is a rumor of IGN XBox. As I said frequently, we at present only technology for the XBox entwicklen and PS2. that the Gamecube sufficient basis offers, prefers so long we it to the other two platforms definitely than goal platform for our plays. It is also no secret which we it prefers to entwicklen our plays exclusively for a console. This Christmas will show up whether the Cube can remain these a console - I have there with the price reduction best hopes. To that extent we will see next yearly surely somewhat clearer to beginning.
In short, Factor 5 is committed to developing for only one platform at this time: the Gamecube. Their involvement with the PS2 and Xbox is limited to development tools only. They have expressed concerns over Gamecube sales, but hope that the recent price drop will help with software sales.

I was under the impression that Rogue Squadron II (and I assume III as well) was (were) designed to take full advantage of the Gamecube hardware and would be difficult to port. I don't have time to hunt right now but there's a quote out there that basically says it'd be easier to create a whole new game rather than port RSII.

I've also heard this before. Remember, Factor 5 helped to develop the GameCube hardware! So they are pretty tight with Nintendo. I would take it with a grain of salt, and wouldn't count on it happening. Buy a GameCube now if you want the game, and then consider it a bonus later if they do such a release.

Despite my earlier post I do fancy treating myself to a new system and it's been a while since I had a Nintendo console, time to go back to my roots.

I'm going to see what Gamecube deals are on in my local town on Sat and then decide from there.

Sweet! A new toy!

I'm not in England, but I heard GAME was running some good bundles, at least on their website. Game will ship to the US and their are a few Gamecube games that are only in PAL areas, does any UK readers know of any websites/stores that will ship to the US and/or have cheap prices on new and used games? Like here I can order used games at Gamestop or EB Games at a reduced cost, any UK stores like that?
