PC MOH:Breakthrough

If you liked MOH:AA and/or Spearhead, this is another fantastic voyage through the wreakage of WWII. This time you're coming up through Africa and into Italy with Patton.

I just played the frst level through the Kasserine Pass, and I gotta say, I'm blown away, again!

The dust! The dust is everywhere, obscuring enemies and objectives. The cutscenes are perfect as before.

There's no real innovation, but it's a continuation of the MOH series. THe first level took me through entrenched German lines, hijack a panzer, and search and clear a bunker for "documents" before linking back up with the rest of the Armored Division. Seems pretty passe', now that I detail it like that, but the gameplay is as excellent as before.

Is there anyone else playing this game? There's zero buzz.

The thing keeping me from buying this new add-on is that I was burned by spearhead (here is my review). I completed spearhead in an afternoon (about 4 hours game play). I thought the closing credits were a joke!

The original game was short and spearhead was even shorter. Even though the game is fantastic, I'm no longer willing to spend $50+ on a game and $30+ on an expansion that will take me 10 hours to finish (total). I expect more.

That said - how long did this expansion take you?

Call of Duty... I pointed that one out to The Missus for Christmas.

Spearhead was short. I was having all sorts of hard drive issues, and I kept fixing/replacing them, losing all my save games in the process.
I got Spearhead for Christmas last year, and I got to the last level before my HDD shat out.
I didn't realize how close I had come to finishing the game until I actually beat the game... in a brief period of time. 4 hours is about right, I think.

I suspect Breakthrough is as short, unfortunately. For some reason, I've stayed away from reviews of these expansion packs - so, don't give it away to me, now!
Is t worth it? It is to me. The gameplay, the immersiveness, and the levels are very close to perfect, to me. I love the arcade-y action mixed with a healthy dose of history. I truly love this series.

Kinda like Battle Of Britain 1942: Their Finest Hour...

No... I haven't. I've been busy on Steam. Dude... time to get your CounterStrike groove on! We can all suck together!

Anyway, back to Breakthrough. I'm playing it in a very haphazard manner. Pick it up. Put it down. Pick it up for a level. Put it down for CounterStrike (with Steam, it's a whole new game!). Meh.

I just started a new level. I had to cross a river via rowboat... pretty neat. But the opening scene just bogged my computer! Swamped! Choppy, jerky, horrible - unplayable - framerates. Luckily, it passed rather quickly, but man. I've never seen my computer choke like that since I tried 3DMark 2003.

I think the time is nigh to upgrade the ol' b0><3n.

PS - 1900+, 512MB PC2100, GeForce3 Ti200.
