Sid Meier's Pirates! is back!! w00t!!

For those who care and played the original game oh those many years ago, this is FANTASTIC news. Sid's involved, they want this to be a great game, and I couldn't be more excited. Pirates! was crack for me when I was a kid, and the prospect of a remake has me drooling like homer over a donut. Finally! All those governors' daughters have been lonely for far too long. Time for Captain Jonathon Sterling, reaver of the high seas, to return!

Cool. I'm not much of a gamer but this was always one of my favorites.

I don't remember the original Pirates but that screen shot looks interesting. Is it turned based, or an RTS? I still can't stop playing Civ III so I dig Sid's work.

It would be RTS (sort of) if it's anything like the original.

Reaver, you just made my day!
Any old school gamer is jumping for joy at this and that pic looks sweet. I'm kind of ashamed that this slipped under my radar since I usually keep up with game news. But my life has gotten so busy lately that it takes quite an effort to get gaming time in. I will make sure it happens for this title...

Hot dog! This was one of my all time favorites back in the day!!! As much as I sucked at Pirates, I loved every damn minute of it!

Now if they will only re-do Taipan, we'd really be on to something...

PS... was I the only one who was afraid to disembark the ship for fear of getting totally lost in the Central American landmass... or could never find where goddamn Bermuda was... or got constantly creamed by Spanish war galleons?
