Classic NES Series GBA games... What a ripoff!

As if the $29.99 defacto standard GBA game price wasn't enough, now Nintendo is charging $19.99 for 20 year old NES games!

Zelda, Donkey Kong, Excitebike, Ice Climber, Super Mario Bros 1, Pacman, etc... $19.99 EACH

I can't believe the nerve of Nintendo. If they released these games in a multi-game pack like Midway Treasures or Namco Museum, that would be cool. But to charge $20 each for these games? Hell, Zelda and SMB the best out of them are barely worth $10 a piece, and games like Excitebike and Ice Climber are worth $2-3 at best. The sooner PSP comes out the better, as this pricing is ridiculous. Oh and lets see, would you rather have PacMan NES Classic edition for $19.99, or Namco Museum for GBA for $14.99 that has ms. pacman, Galaga, Galaxian, Dig Dug, and Pole Position? I'm all for resurrecting and re-releasing classic games, but be reasonable about it; Nintendo is clearly ripping off game enthusiasts.

You think Sonys pricing on their "classic" PS1+2 titles for the PSP will be any better? Dream on.

Anyway, it is a bit high, they should have released em in a complitation for 25$ or so.

At least PS1 titles were made within the last decade. We aren't talking about N64 or even SNES games here, but 20 year old NES games. And my point is that PSP will give GBA competition, hence prices in general should go down.

Yeh, most of these titles are compilation worthy, not $19.99ea worthy. I would find it very disturbing if people buy into these, as it might give other companies incentives to release their 'classics' at eye-gouging prices.

That price does seem a bit up there. Are they cleaning these titles up and enhancing them in any way like they did with the Mario Advance series? Thats the only way I could see to justify the price.

What happened to the e-Reader? I have Ice Climber, Donkey Kong, Excitebike and Mario Bros. on that and they only cost me $4 a pack.

Dunno what happened to e-reader, but you can see the list of games here and their prices. And no, they don't appear to be enhanced from the originals.

They appear to be gimmick sells for people who buy this:

and game enthusiasts in general. Such a rip.

"Classic NES Series: Donkey Kong
$19.99
Pre-Order: Ships on 06/07/2004

The best game featuring a plumber rescuing a princess from a big ape pretty much ever.

Mario zips up ladders and leaps over tumbling barrels to defeat Donkey Kong and save the Princess. This is a perfect port of the arcade smash that put Nintendo and Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto on the map, big-time."

The NES version of Donkey Kong is most definitely *not* a perfect port of the arcade version. How deceiving, eh brian.

It gets better though. The "Donkey Kong-e" IS the arcade version. So this is already released and availiable for the GBA (technically) for $4.

Well there is a simply solution to your problem, don't buy them.

These games have sold over a million in Japan, they were meant to just celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Famicon in Japan, but they sold so well that even Nintendo was shocked so they decided to release them here and are thinking of bringing out more of them. The games have been sold as a collectible/nostaliga thing. Numbers showed that many adults were buying the games who have not bought games for years, hopefully expanding the GBA market for Nintendo. I will probably grap a few used or on sale copies myself, for sure I'll get zelda. In the end you can't blame Nintendo if people buy them. Are they overpriced, yep, but you have to take into acount production and retail cut/costs. I think a better price would have been $10 a piece.
