Thumbs up Sega Hot Wheels

I had heard about these in the collector's column of Tips & Tricks magazine. I usually miss out on these cool little extras so I immediately started checking eBay. Prices weren't bad. Most auctions were ending at or around retail price, but shipping was always twice as much as the car. It soon became an afterthought.

Tonight we stopped at Target looking for some "apartment supplies" and, as usual, I strayed over to the toy section. Boom! Hot Wheels! A shit load of them. I didn't even see that many when I checked Toys R Us a week before. There must have been hundreds of these fuckers. My girlfriend and I sifted through the display looking for the complete set. Eighty-seven cents each. The total came out to be a little over five bucks.

So I'm here to inform my fellow nerds to check around next time you're at a Target, Toys R Us, or even a grocery store. Looking for dinner afterwards, we found a couple in between the fish and the bread.

I'm partial to the Space Channel 5 mini-van myself.

are the cars you found actually that color? Because I've had my Sega Hot Wheels for awhile now, and they are very different than those you posted. The Space Channel 5 isn't nearly that dark red or blue and has a clear window. the HotD3 has a bright green roof and bright green zombies and the logo is on the roof not the hood. Shinobi has yellow letters - not blue. SMB is a a darker green and the window is clear, not yellow. JSRF is yellow instead of green and the hood is clear, not blue. the wheels are totally different for all of them.

I was, for a brief period, a hot wheels collector. When you have a box full of cars and you look at it and realize that there are almost 100 cars there @ $1 a car, you realize that there are better things to spend $100 on.

bune duggy, those are probably just early models. My cars are exactly as you have described them.

I figured as much, but Mattell likes to release chase versions of their hot wheels as well as their action figures so I figured I'd ask just to make sure. I like some of those early models a lot better than the ones I have anyways. :p
