Xbox XBOX Doom3 likely delayed until 2005

Those who were waiting on the XBOX ver (read: moogle) might want to pick up the PC version instead...

By the time the Xbox version comes out I'll have enough money to upgrade my PC enough to run Doom 3.

Rock!

I hate it when they can't do what they originally say as far as release dates.

On the other hand....this is just deserts for you non-loving RE people! If "we" gotta wait....HA! So do you !

:p

id never gives release dates. At best they imply when they hope a game will come out. But id has never said that the Xbox version will definitely be out at Christmas.

As I said in an earlier thread somewhere, at QCon Todd was dodgy about whether it would come out int he next few months, and I figured you guys would be lucky if it saw the light of day before the end of the year. Mac version as well.

I would think that id will put every available resource towards this project. There's lots of extra $$$ to be had if they've got it available in time for Christmas.

The good news for fans is that id is the kind of company that will only release it if it is truly ready to be released. May not be fiscally sound in the short term, but fan loyalty ought to make it worthwhile in the long term.

Well this sucks... I thought they were working on both at the same time... can't believe there's going to be almost a year between the two releases.

Oh well... *sigh*... I have Halo 2 and Fable to keep me company this winter anyway

Remember, id Software isn't doing the port. The work is being given over to Vicarious Visions, who are also adding co-op support.

After playing through Doom3 I don't see how co-op support would work well tho.

It's one reason that the port is taking so long. I believe they have to redo the maps and level design to deal with the fact that multiple people can join in.
