I have a MAME cabinet and I tend to play a lot of Mortal Kombat... So I gotta say, I totally agree!

I never got to play it because my mom knew about the game's penchant for removing opponents' organs.

I should've seen that one coming.

Seamonkey, I'm green with envy. I await the newfangled XBox version with bated breath.

Yeah, I should go get it at a local GameStop or something since I'm still using my old Super Nintendo. I must know what it feels like to virtually rip organs out of bodies!

MtCarmel, look me up if you're ever Ypsilanti way. I'll take you out for a few beers and a barfight. Wholesome motherfucker.

In the meantime, pick up MK2 for SNES for $6.00. It's a kick-ass translation.

Frank, I love MK...first fighting game that let you do some really cool "Finality moves"......truely a great game...

What you may not realize is there was a game called "Thrill Kill" that got trashed -after- it was finished (meaning it never hit the shelves, but it did hit the net). Somehow, someway, it hit the net and let me tell you, I strongly suspect a dude like you would appreciate it. I saw it a while ago but I'm sure it's available if you "try"....

MK does rule! I've had every version of it. When I bought my first one on the Genessis they asked me if I wanted the blood code (ABACABB). I can't wait to see what the new one looks like. Any thoughts or guesses from anyone?

Mk

Is that a shot from the Game Gear version? I bought that handheld just so I could play MK out of the house.

My favorite has been MKII, but I think the new Xbox game is going to rule all. (Live support?! How can that not kick ass?) I'm highly considering getting the deluxe edition from EB for the original game.

Be careful. The first MK for SNES was tamed down quite a bit. Buy a genesis

MK did kick ass.
But when reminiscing, I don't see why a console port of the arcade game would be the one to come to mind - the arcade game was unequalled - man, that SOUND after ripping the dude's spine out was just too cooooool.

FYI:
There was a little-known game called Time Killers that was the bloodiest thing out in the arcades.
It had Musashi, an alien, a Viking, a spaceman, and the overly-powered guy with the chainsaw. Tons of blood, pretty fun.

I disagree, it’s a very good game, but Donkey Kong is the best game ever.

Only if you're talking about the original Donkey Kong.

okay I have a dilemma

I have this on order in two stores, gamestop and ebgames

at gamestop I get mk deception with the baraka cover + midway greatest arcade hits 2 for $69.99 shippped

at EB I get mk deception with the scorpion cover alone for $63

now here is my problem
A) Scorpion is my fav Mortal Kombat character by far
B) At Gamestop I get Midway's greatest hits 2 which I plan to buy anyway for only $6 extra ($20 value)
C) The Baraka cover appears to be the best drawn out of all the limited edition covers by far, the artistry on the other ones is sub-par in comparison. It also appears to be the first cover they made as the banner coloring on it matches the coloring on the MK website, and Baraka appears to be the official "comeback" character of MK as he is on the Midway site as well as the MK deception "mascot."
D) Scorpion is my fav Mortal Kombat characater by far

so which order do I cancel? Pay $13 extra for my fav character or pay less for the better looking cover

No way! The Genesis version may have had the blood but it still played and looked like ass compared to the SNES version. Plus the SNES's tamed-down Fatalities were pretty hilariously sick in their own way.

Y'all crazy. Baraka rules all. And it's about damned time they brought him back.

Anybody notice that, with the exception of Quan Chi, every character introduced from MK3 on totally blows? Those first 14 were all top drawer, but ever since then, the whole damned thing has been a parade of bland hot chicks, faceless good guys, and robot ninjas. And don't even get me started on Bo Rai Cho. Blecch.

No way, Frank! MK3 introduced the best character of all, Maskless Subzero. Sure, he seemed like regular Subzero, but he didn't wear a mask! And, he could make ice copies of himself. Yeah.

And Ruined, save yourself the $13 now. I'm sure later on, you'll be able to find used copies of the new Mortal Kombat for under 13 bucks. Buy the Scorpion version then. You'll have two copies of the game. You can give the other version to your cousin, or something.

Bah. I'm sure Sub-Zero was flattered to get his own sprite set, but was it worth losing the Ground Ice move? Surely not.

And, hey, why isn't there any activity in this forum, anyway? This is going to be the greatest game season ever! MK: Deception, GTA: San Andreas, SW: Battlefront, Metroid 2, Halo 2, Goldeneye Rogue Agent, Midway Arcade Treasures 2... I haven't been this geeked about videogames since the halcyon days of the SNES.
