SW: Battlefront
Anyone else picking this one up? I'm usually not into video games other than sports or GTA, but this one look pretty intriguing. From what I gather you can play as 1 of 4 factions (Empire, Rebellion, Seperatists, and the Republic). Also, some of the main characters from the films are involved with each faction.
Supposedly, it is built on the same engine as Lucasarts' popular war games. I'd be excited to be able to march into Hoth as the Empire and eradicate the Rebel scum. |

Which system do you have Frank? I have both PS2 and Xbox (prefering the first). However, depending on if there are a majority of 'Filers with a certain system that are buying this, it may sway which platform I buy this title for. With an arsenal of weapons, and I've learned there is a whole array of vehicles that can be used, this game may force me to drop out of college.

I just played the Endor battle demo of PS2. The game plays like any other war game. I don't particularly like the Endor map simply because like any jungle warfare it's hard as hell.
I did notice that the weapons are solid, and it is especially fun to be an Emperial Scout and snipe the Rebels from the Ewok platforms. The Speederbikes are a nice touch, but almost irrelevant due to the large number of downed trees. Also, it was a demo, but the map felt especially small. I also didn't understand the objective other than to annilate the rebels and their bases. Ah well, was pretty fun. Would be better if there were officers and such, but that may be in the final release. |

Now I'm hearing that the Xbox supports 24 players. After two years of SOCOM, teams of 12 will feel like goddamned armies. Let's hope the fan boys aren't pulling my chain.
Noto, if you pick this up, you'll only have to wait nine days to catch a Frank Gunn beatdown, Imperial style. Last edited by Frank Gunn : 09-13-2004 at 02:49 AM. |

![]() You can't handle my lightness or fashionable armour you imperial fag! On a more serious note, I will probably not be picking this up immediately, so it will be a MK smackdown on you bitch!

as i researched this game more, it still looks cool, and i still be getting it, but it also seems like the spammed one model over all 4 factions, meaning they have a sniper model for imperial, they change the look for rebel the characters essential the same, it seems like they did that, but the vehicles are slightly different so it will be interesting to see if they all feel the same

So I've been playing for a few hours now and I'm very pleased with this game.
It's a little difficult to get used to everything at first, but after a few games you should be comfortable enough with the controls, camera, etc.to move and shoot with ease. The vehicles for the most part are ok, although the flying vehicles are a little tricky to control. The variety of vehicles in this game is just sick, though. I've driven everything from Speeder Bikes on Endor to those big fucking ATAT's on Hoth, which was very, very cool. The maps are not huge but are large enough to give you a little breathing room when you spawn so you don't always have to worry about the campers. It can be a little tricky to tell if you're shooting at a teammate or an enemy sometimes, but, hey, that's war for 'ya. The characters control pretty well even if they are a little on the slow side. There's some sort of auto-aim in the game that I'm still trying to figure out (note to self: read the manual). There's a ton of other stuff to write about but I'd rather get back to playing at the moment. And, yeah, this is really a game that's meant for Live. There is a single player portion that I haven't bothered with, but I think you'll really need Live to really get anything from this title.

I played the Xbox demo on the Bonus DVD. It seems fun. It took me 4 tries to win playing as the Republic. 80% of my own deaths came from teamates which is frustrating. I beat it the first time I played as the Imperials. It wen't MUCH easier that way. Maybe because I had the AT-STs on my side.
Is the full version that one-sided?
