Talking Mortal Kombat Deception

Let's get some hype going for the most highly anticipated videogame in the history of the universe: MK Deception! It's brutal! It's bloody! It brings back the much-feared Baraka! It has some kind of bizarre chess game in it! And best of all: It's LIVE!

Get it, get on it, and climb all over it, because this game is sure to be the cat's meow.

Only 27 more days.

Might be worth noting that the Sub-Zero cover is for PS2 only. All the others are on XBOX only.

Baraka does look cool, but Scorpion looked just as cool to me...so Scorpion it is. (Hey man...I'm a Scorpion...born on Halloween - I had to vote for him!)

Thanks for the covers Frank!

Naw, that's not off-topic.

All I know is that everybody has at least two and that there will be three or four "Ring Out" style fatalities that can happen at any point during the match. There will also be suicide finishers, too, so you can rob that little 14-year-old prick from Montana who's been kicking your ass all night of the satisfaction of disemboweling you. I've been trying to avoid learning too much about specific fatalities, but I think it's a safe bet that none of them will be as lame as Quan Chi's neck-stretch from 'Deadly Alliance'.

If it were up to me, they'd keep them simple and brutal like the classics. A nice heart-rip or a simple decapitation warms me right up. I don't need all that complicated cute-n'-funny bullshit.

And in 27 short days, Noto will learn the meaning of pain.

I have both on preorder but I'm gonna keep Baraka I think. Scorpion is my fav character but Baraka is clearly the mascot for MKeception. And out of all the covers, Baraka is by far drawn the best, all of the other sketches look second rate in comparison.

Is Kitana in this? She was much cooler than Mileena.

Mileena was a bad-ass bitch! Her Sai fatality from MKII was excellent, and under that mask, she looks like Baraka.

I imagine Kitana will be in this, too, but last I'd heard, they hadn't yet finalized the roster.

Many thanks to all participating in the poll, but Ispep Aloc, Kenshiro 26, Monster, myiamoto, Wurms, Sycowulf, and Mr. Furious, let's get your input in the thread! What features do you hope to see in Deception? Which characters do you hope return? Let's get some hype going, motherfuckers!

I always liked Kitana and her whirling fan of death. I don't remember the fatalities from mk2 all that well. It's been too long.

Kitana's Kiss of Death fatality is up there in the best fatalities, IMO.

'Course, Johnny Cage's Friendship (?) was so good it even made it to the movies.

I like the Raiden and Scorpion ones, but never liked playing as Raiden as much as Scorpion, so Scorpion got my vote.

I've been a HUGE Mortal Kombat fan for years (I have an MKII arcade machine in my apartment ) and am looking forward to this game immensely. As far as characters goes, I've always been partial to Baraka & Kitana.

How much did that run you, dvdjedi?

I've always wanted one, but I never seem to find the space. I imagine my desire for such a thing will wane when Midway Arcade Treasures 2 comes out, but you never know.

I bought it off of eBay about a year ago for $500. It's in a dedicated cabinet and in great shape. I must have spent a few hundred $$ playing it in the arcade back when it came out & vowed to have one of my own some day. Money well spent.

Next up on the list: a dedicated Killer Instinct machine

Those rat-bastards at Midway engineered their little banner countdown to expire early this morning... but there's no MK Deception to be found anywhere! Cocksuckers!
