Well, so happened a recent EBgames order that I was getting some other stuff, I was able to get a cheap preowned game (NCAA Football 2k3) for free (its a $2.99 game) with a coupon.
I thought, hey I've always seen these preowned games, most games I sell used are like new anyway what the heck. Well, I got it today. Not a single part of the game is undamaged. Starting off, the plastic of the case has some black goo all over it. And it has some holes, which punctured through the cover art. I opened the case to find a ripped manual, and a disc that looked like it was run over with a car a few times. Not only did it have a wealth, and I mean a wealth, of scratches on the underside, but the disc art also was scratched off in some places on the top! Incredible. I didn't even bother putting it in my XBOX and just threw it in the trash since it was free anyway, but just a word of warning. When you get a preowned game from EB, there is a good chance you will be getting something that looks worse than even what you've rented at blockbuster!

I rarely buy preowned, only when it's something hard to find or insanely cheaper, but when I have I've always asked to see the condition of the disc before putting down the cash. If it looks like complete ass, I ask for another copy... if they all look like ass, I don't buy it.

I buy a lot of my Xbox games preowned. I'd just rarther save the money. Only once did I get a game that wouldn't work and I went back and exchanged it for a one that did.
Don't most of these places have like a 7 day period to just outright return it?

1. Rent the same game and return your game disc to the rental company instead of the rental one. Hell, if you want to be even less ethical you could even tell them that the scratch prevented you from playing parts of the game. That'll even give you a full refund. 2. Buy the game used somewhere, go back with your scratched disc and request an exchange. You'll end up with two copies of the same game, but there's always eBay. KM |

The only time I've ordered a preowned game online was Cubivore. I thought a game such as that must have been in good hands. Your average abusive thirteen year old isn't likely to drop $50 on that game.
It came disc only, in a paper sleeve. I sent it back without even opening it. Now, the B&M stores are different. Most of the time you can tell by the case if the disc is going to be in good condition. Even then I ask them to show me the disc before I buy it. |

As far as our normal preown policy goes, you have 2 wks from the time that you buy it to bring it back and we will swap it out... and if it happens that we dont have another preowned copy that looks decent, we usually just throw a gut (the wall copys innards) into the preowned one and write it off as a defect, so the store doesnt lose any money. Oh, and about the sticker thing... yeah, its a pain in the ass... but if you want just ask whoever is working to use the shrinkwrapping machine to get them off, all that is needed is for the sticker to be heated just a little, then it comes right off. *also forgot to say, yeah, it does cover anything except for a cracked or chipped disk* |

I buy used games at Gamestop and Blockbuster all the time, and I've been told at both places that if the games won't play, I can return them with a full refund. Blockbuster offered 2 weeks, and Gamestop was a lifetime guarantee. I've never had any problems with any used merchandise I've ever bought.
