And for only 49.99 when you could have a better ESPN NHL 2K5 for 19.99! I gave up on EAs NHL a long time ago but was suckered into last years by promises of better this and better that. There last good NHL game was 97 or 98. Now if someone would just get some balls and make a college hockey game I'd be all over that, any chance to whip Boston College virtually or for real is money well spent.

Well, last years espn killed EA's hockey, and according to reviews it does the same this year... I wont touch NHL2005 with a 10ft pole this year, especially after hearing about their new wraparound move that scores almost all the time... And after seeing NHL2005 in motion at work today, Id also have to say ESPN also looks better.

Pezz, use the search feature I started a thread about this game a while ago because I was so thrilled that Markus Naslund is on the cover. Here it is: Ea Nhl 2005.

But you should be comforted by the fact that people actually replied to your thread about the game, and not mine. GRRRR

I already purchased ESPN NHL 2K5 for my PS2, and I am really enjoying it. It's far better than any hockey game I've played by EA.

ESPN is a FAR, FAR superior game. I played NHL 2005 for about 20 minutes and after tinkering with the sliders even its still end to end hockey, I think it should be NHL 1985 if anything. The World Cup Mode is the only reason I'll be keeping the game, but other than that its not all that great.

ESPN's graphics I think are better in some respects and EA has a few nods in others. EA has been making this game for years and they don't have realistic arenas, there is no excuse for that espicially when the gameplay degrades, althought 04 was a step up and 05 was too, but not much.

ESPN plays and feels like real hockey. Cycling, rebounds etc., it just feels better, a big part is due to the controls. EA's are just too simple. Sega's are deep but allow for a great deal more.

If anyone is interested in ESPN checkout http://www.espnhockey.net/forums

They both have Pros and Cons and if you could combine both it would be awesome, but Sega is far superior. Even all the gaming websites have rated Sega much better than EA.

ESPN NHL is far more challenging and realisting than EA NHL. If it wasn't you must have had the skill level on Rookie or were playing a different game.

Im saying it sucks if you just do that wraparound move every time to score.

I know ESPN NHL 2K3 was a bit wraparound happy, but 2K4 was definitely not. In fact if anything 2K4 might have been a bit too tough to score than it should have been. 2K5 is a good balance between the two.

Just making a point that the ESPN makers have both the quality in the game and the balls to see all there much better than EA games at a fantastic price point.
