Yes, and it's damn good. It plays a bit like Gauntlet but is actually more story driven. I suppose it also plays like Diablo, or if you've ever played Record of Lodoss War on Dreamcast, except you have a party of 4 a lot of the time. It has fairly heavy Action RPG set as far as stats and items effect your character and whatnot.
What you get: 1)Fairly deep stat and item management, 2)Fairly simple combat, but powers specific to the X-Men you choose to take into battle. 3)A bit of strategy in what you equip and who you take into battle. 4)Levels reminiscent of Gauntlet layout-wise but not setting-wise, and there aren't spawn points to destroy. 5)A story driven game with Mission Objectives that overall is heavily influenced by story arcs or back stories from the comics 6)Lots of little extras within the game, placed for fan-service and well implemented, like comic book covers or a trivia game. 7)Good to excellent voice acting. Patrick Stewart reprises his role as Prof. X. The guy who does Wolvie sounds like David Hayter of Solid Snake fame (it's not him, but sounds like him). 8)Serviceable graphics, pretty darn good cutscenes, but an interface with the menus that's kind of clunky. 9)Single player with 3 computer controlled players that you can switch between on the fly, or multiplayer with up to 3 of your friends. The whole game is not mulitplayer though. Just most of it. Sometimes a Mission or section can only be gone through with a single player or two X-men. When you start the game you're Wolverine alone. After a bit you'll meet up with another X-man. Not too long after that you'll have access to all of the X-men. But depending on the Mission, you can't necessarily go into it with 4; but most of the time you can. Last edited by Scourge : 09-24-2004 at 04:45 PM. |

This game is great. I've been playing it coop with my brother and it's really fun. Great combination of roleplaying and action.

The game kicks all sorts of ass... It has multiple shortcomings, but its greatness more than makes up for that.
shortcomings being... AI, flying, picking people up while flying, Wolverine making the game kinda easy But... 4 player fun and the simple, fun controls and cool missions/characters more than make up for it.

I don't really know much about Xmen, other than what I saw in the two movies, will I know what I'm doing in this game? I love RPG games, played just about all of them for the SNES and Genesis, played Diablo I & II for PC (plus a boat load of older ones), Baldurs Gate II for Xbox and lots of other ones from other systems. I'm in the middle of D&D Heroes for the Xbox now, takes me a long time to go through an RPG, as I don't have the same kind of free time as I had in my "youth".
Just wondering if I'd enjoy it just the same, not being an Xmen "fan" and all. Don't hate or dislike Xmen or anything, just never got into the scene.

i picked up this game last week and have invested some time in it, most of the xmen i have are about level 9 so i havent been playing that long...but im really enjoying this game, im gonna play co-op for the first time tonight so we will see how that goes, the only thing that is bugging me as of yet is that its sort of frantic...meaning its tough to set up combos on purpose, atleast so far for me...i also have an easier time only using three xmen than four...otherwise its a really cool game and im finding myself wanting to have those level 15 moves for each xmen
