Resident Evil 5
Chris Redfield is back and it looks amazing.
There is a trailer at IGN. The orginal Resident Evil team (programmers) is back together. Could this game involve the mysterious "Plan B" they spoke of at the end of RE4? And why are the "things" chasing Chris so damn fast? This game has made it to #1 on my most wanted list of games yet to be released.

Recently the creator has admitted that proper work on Resident Evil 5 has not even begun yet. The team is currently finishing DEAD RISING for a summer release. RE5 will probably come in 2007.

Bring on RE5, but please please please bring back zombies. RE without zombies is like a car without wheels. I loved RE4, but it felt sort of empty without that definining storyline.

Anyway, I was a huge fan of the original RE and RE2, but 3 and Code: Veronica were, in my opinion, awful. The RE remake on the Cube was AWESOME, and RE0 was ALMOST AS AWESOME. RE4 is really it's own animal, completely different and unique, and great. At the same time though... I kind of hope we see another classic RE again. |

Demo's up for Japan. It can be downloaded on a PC & burned to DVD & it'll run fine from the disc. Tried it myself & it works just fine & plays in whatever language your 360 is set to. Quite a pleasant surprise!
It looks very nice indeed & plays just like RE4. My only gripe is that weapon switching & healing is done in real time, leading to much panic fiddling round in menus while being attacked from all sides. The demo has 2 levels to choose from & can be played in co-op on Live. Definitely worth a download. |

Played through this again & discovered that my previous complaint about real-time weapon switching is nullified by being able to instantly switch using the D-pad.
Doesn't feel much like an RE game though, it's way too bright & sunny. |
