Guitar Hero 3

As with GH2 I am extremely excite3d about this game. Not sure how many people on here actually played 1 or 2 but when 2 hit the 360 it got all new fans, better looks and new songs. Now with GH 3 all the platforms are getting to rock out (yes even you Wii owners). Lots of big name original artist recordings and finally a wireless controller for the 360.

Early confirmed details here.

I'm... extremely iffy about Guitar Hero 3, seeing how Harmonix isn't the studio doing it... I love the first two though, as well as Harmonix's earlier games Amplitude and Frequency though.

I don't see why you should be iffy. The product is nearly perfect with a blue print that is easy to follow. The real thing GH 3 needs for success above and beyond the first 2 is artist participation.

However the fact that Harmonix isn't involved with this should be no big deal. They where the technical brains behind the game and had little if anything to do with the music and peripherals. Since one of the best developers, Neversoft under Activisions banner, is taking over Harmonix job I would be MORE excited about this game than either of the first 2.

So far, not sold on it. I have no interest in playing any of these songs. Whats with the fucking Tenacious D. They're hardly a real band and not that good to begin with.

"Rock And Roll All Nite" as made famous by Kiss
"School's Out" as made famous by Alice Cooper
"Slow Ride" as made famous by Foghat
"Barracuda" as made famous by Heart

Okay this is a little better but not enough to make me really want to buy it.

I'm more excited about Guitar Hero Encore:Rock the 80's which is due out soon. THAT has me excited.

Knights of Cydonia is a kick ass song. I do look forward to playing that but the majority of the songs listed...well aren't that exciting.

can you use the guitar for either game?

I am thinking of going out and getting Guitar Hero 2 for the 360. How does it work, do you pay for the game and guitar separately?

Then, will the guitar work for #3 when it comes out?

what is the release date?

I only know Guitar Hero on the PS/2 and the guitar does in fact work for both games so surely it will be the same on the Xbox360, and with future releases.

is there a wireless controller for the 360 version, and if not, how long is the cord?

they said the 3rd one will come with a wireless one, and it may not work with the 2nd one in terms of wireless capabilites

Hate to Break it to you but Spinal Tap is less than a real band the Tenacious D is.

Yeah, the song list overall is pretty weak... They seriously need to put more hard rock/metal into these games than they have been. I dont know about everyone else but im getting kind of sick of playing classic rock over and over again.

I'd say they're about equally real, actually. They both write and perform their own music, have each had a film and a separate album (don't forget "Break Like the Wind"), and have played live shows. Tenacious D has the one-up because of the TV show and more exposure as a striaght musical act, but they're both quite real.

...Not that this really has anything to do with the topic.

Well the classic rock is where the real guitar heros came from. There are very few newer (withing the past 10 or so years) players that I would consider guitar "heroes". Jamming as many notes as you can into a song really doesn't qualify. But you are right some songs from the first 2 games are suspect (psychobilly freakout, Carry me home and institutionalized come to mind nothing original there).

I wouldn't want the job of the guys picking the songs. You have to pick a good mix of classics and fairly new songs. Songs with longevity. Songs people don't mind hearing quite a few times and don't mind playing them over and over. Suicidal tendencies flat out sucks, institutionalized goes absolutely no where and I only 5 starred it by turning the volume down. I know its a cover but the original sucked worse.

I can't really say theres a demographic for this game because youtube proves there isn't one (that little 8 year old bastard almost acing psychobilly freakout on expert really pisses me off) but we all know a majority of people playing this are guys. Guys with guitars don't want to hear John Denver or N'Sync. But on the other hand we don't wanna play something so infuriatingly bad that we can't stand to play it.

So in this case most everyone can agree is a pretty good place to base the game in. GH 2 gives a few newer songs a chance more so than the first game. I can't wait to see the full track list when it comes out.

These all sound great to me.

The 80's version of GH sounds great, too.

Need more of a GH fix..

Bring it on!

The 80's had some good stuff from metal. They could make a fortune if they continued to plan future release "decade" volumes.

Thats just one mutiplayer mode I assume. Yeah locking the other players guitar up is an interesting trick. Guess you just have to be better than the other person so that doesn't happen.

Activision, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI) premiered a new track from Guitar Hero III™: Legends of Rock game during its exclusive hour-long screening at Edinburgh Interactive Festival today.

“She Bangs the Drums,” as made legendary by The Stone Roses, was played for the very first time, underscoring the company’s promise that the track list for the next instalment in the Guitar Hero franchise will draw inspiration from all eras and genres of guitar music, ensuring a soundtrack with truly global appeal.

“She Bangs the Drums” is one of the Stone Roses’ best-loved songs, hailing from an album consistently voted the very best British album ever. Its inclusion in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock will appeal to fans of the classic late-80s music scene, lovers of sublime guitar rhythms and riffs, as well as the indie-shoegazers.

The Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock screening took place at 1:00 pm today, as part of the Festival’s public day at the Odeon, Lothian Road, Edinburgh.

Along with the announcement of this classic British track, the screening provided the first opportunity for members of the public this side of the Atlantic to witness first hand the new boss battles and multiplayer game modes. The new Guitar Hero controllers were also premiered.

“The Edinburgh Interactive Festival is all about the culture of gaming,” states Zach Fountain, General Manager, RedOctane Europe. “The Guitar Hero franchise has already established itself as part of mainstream pop culture, so it was a perfect place to unveil one of our UK-originated songs. The Guitar Hero road show moves from here to Leipzig, where we’ll be announcing a whole new stack of European songs for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.”

Never heard of the song or the band but anythings better than Suicidal Tendencies or that totally idiotic song Freya. It will be nice to have a little bigger mix of music in there.

I dislike that song on the mere principle I can't get past it on Expert mode.

Actually theres going to be multiple metallica songs. Or is that with Rock band? I know Enter Sandman is in RB. But all these master tracks from bands should have fans of these types of games incredibly excited. Your gonna see different songs from different bands in both games and then that will undoubtable carry over to the downloadable content.

I was reading on some web site (I swear to god I'm loosing my mind!) that either RB or GH3 (see it's gone!) the developer will be releasing downloadable tracks but not in packs like GH2 where you where forced to buy maybe 2 things you wanted and 2 you didn't, I call that Sonying. They'll have a list of available tracks to down load and you can pick and choose the ones you want.

Oh and Tattiana just some info for ya. my best friends wife who had no interest in GH2 tried and learned it so quick it was scarey, she loves it. Of course thats due to he much bigger female brain. Unfortunately that still doesn't seem to help women with that awful driving problem.
