More Peripherals than you can shake a (drum) stick at.

I think I'll just do it now and claim the drum periph as one of the most replaced peripherals a game has ever had. I'm sorry but when you play the drums you cant just sit there and tap on them like you tap your fingers. You gotta go to town. Especially on a song like Welcome to the Jungle.
This game is going to have multiplayer capabilities where 4 people (guitar, bass guitar, drums and vocal) from around the world can get together and create there version of any particular song. Sort of. I mean it does have the tracks laid down but the freestyle sections look great. So what do we name The 'Files band?? ![]() Oh and thanks for fixing the title. I don't know what it is about thread titles that confuse my fingers so much.

This looks so good, it may just be a huge hit -
I mean, whoever buys this could have epic gameplay with a group of people.... all in one game. It combines 3 different games together, each solid (as I understand) on their own. I would love to see this in play - (btw - the first link was taken off YouTube).

thanks for the link!
That does look intriuging. As a drummer, I question the accuracy of the drum chart and ergonomics of the pads, but if there's even any abstracted feel of playing to those songs that contributes to an enjoyable gaming experience, I'm all for it (and have been waiting years for it).

Well, going by that articles set list, the song list sounds great, with the exception of everything in the 2000s bracket. I really hope they get more good metal mixed in there than they have in previous games.
And the downloadable album feature sounds like a great idea, but I have this funny feeling that they are gonna charge way too much for em (I am willing to bet around 10-15$ an album... unless I can burn it to a disc, I'll pass). |

Well since it is just red, yellow, green, and blue buttons and a certain control "port" you can still use the guitar or drum set to play Scene it. I saw a youtube video of a guy playing Dance Dance revolution with his PS 2 guitar. So I think these games can co exist.

Well heres some good news for some I guess. I never really considered them a "Rock" band, more of a band band I guess, and I like absolutely none of there music.

People where concerned about the price of GH 3 going up due to the choice to include a wireless guitar but have said they are keeping it the same price as the PS version.
http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/21/re...e-price-as-ps/ As far as the Rock band bundles I've heard they are only being sold with WIRED guitars.

I can't believe people are so excited about this game. I mean, its cool, but $180 cool? Not sure about that.
For that price you might as well start looking at real drums/guitar ![]()

Have you played Guitar Hero at all? Thats what really got me hyped for this game was playing the first 3 GH. It takes a fun party game to a whole new level. Is it a tad overpriced, maybe, but I know that my friends and I will all enjoy the hell out of it.

The GF and I are planning a couple of RB parties during the holiday break. She should have picked it up this morning so I can't wait to play it tonight.

My buddy and I have just played Rock Band for 4 hours straight since I got home for work. I definitely like it better then Guitar Hero. My buddy sang and I played the drums and then he switched over to the guitar. It's definitely worth the money. Although I had a hell of a time setting up the drums. The stand is pretty cheaply made. The guitar is definitely a better then the GH ones however not being wireless makes them about even (I got it for the 360). The drums are pretty intuitive. I started out on easy and ended up moving on up to medium. I can't wait to get more friends over to have a whole band.

It took me a total of about 30 seconds to set up my drum set. I have to say that I like the Strat guitar controller but the Gibson GH 3 is definitely the better choice. You never know how uncoordinated you really are till you jump on a drum kit. Fake or not it's humbling to say the least.
It was kinda late when I got my box home and inflicting the noise that comes out of my mouth upon the neighbors just didn't seem right. The mic though is pretty impressive. Very hefty and feels very solid unlike the guitar controller which feels like if I squeeze the neck of the fret board it'll just collapse.Sometimes when you spend that kind of money on a video game you start to wonder "Oh god what have I done?", not once did I say that. Especially when my room mate got home and said I want on the drums.

Just went 5 hours straight!!! I am gonna get carpaltunnel. My buddy was on the drums and I was doing guitar. Medium is all that I can handle. Some songs kill me on medium. I tried Hard on a few but that is damn near impossible right now for me, five fret buttons makes my mind hurt. Havent really messed with the drums much, only a few songs but they are fun
and I suck, haha. Im gonna take the drums tomorrow and see how bad I do. Lots o fun!!! For now, time for sleep. |

The controller in the bundle IS NOT wireless. Derb since you already have GH 3 unless you want the mic and drums just get the game. The GHY 3 Gibson is a much better controller. I can tell you this though "Wanted Dead or Alive" and "Should I stay or should I go" with someone on lead and someone on drums..... BLAST O LICIOUS! Of course I haven't moved down the list yet and unlocked some of the songs I really want, but I'm getting there.
Wurms: Medium and hard on RB is much easier than medium\hard on GH so you should be able to learn that orange button easier on RB than GH. But making the game more difficult isn't what Harmonix was trying to do. Make it a level playing feild across all instruments, I have yet to play bass but I'm assuming its the same. I am definitely separating GH and RB. They both have very different feels to them. I do have to say though having the real songs by the real artists in both games makes me feel a little more invested in playing the songs. You hate to hear a missed note in "Wanted dead or alive" or a big KLUNK in "Evenflow".

I hate GH3 because I completely sucked at it (I will tell you I am not musically inclined on any level. I cannot hold a beat. I just can't do it.) so its not something I saw myself progressively getting better at...however, with Rock Band I was having a blast on the drums. I can see how people can keep playing this into the wee hours of the morning. It is quite addictive.
Edit: Oh, and my wife wants it now.

The GF and I played with her sister and sister's fiance for about 5 hours on Thanksgiving evening. Then on Saturday, I had a get together with family and friends and we played for about 11 hours or so with a dinner break and a board game break. We had about 8 people swithcing in and put on the various jobs. It was a total blast though I ended up singing a good amount (an incredibly rare feat in public) and man, my voice felt it. Being a teacher though helped having a durable voice already.

Yeah when you have all 4 instruments going you can literally go for hours and hours. Me and a few friends started and went for like 5 or 6 hours one day.

Got to try it before New Year's and yep - the game is everything I was hoping it would be.
This thing is a party in a box, and I can see it help define the future of home entertainment.

I'm hoping the patch that Harmonix is working on includes a way to tie one profile to 2 instruments. I'd like to try and play bass or lead and sing at once without having one profile for the mic and one for the guitar.
