PS3 Sony Begging Publishers To Keep Making PS3 Games?

One piece of news that came out this week was that Sony pleaded with third-party developers not to abandon its struggling platform. That change in attitude is a marked difference compared to the arrogance of past years. The argument is that the PS 3 will show its strength as developers learn how to make games for it. But developers know they can staff four or five Wii teams with the same number of people it takes to make one PS 3 game. We may have a glut of Wii games soon, but that’s not as bad as not having enough games on the PS 3.
That Octopiler is gonna be a tough sell IMO.

Unnamed sources of Viacom executives quoted by the NY Times saying that Paramount was bought out for an 18 month deal is not to be believed and is garbage.

Unnamed sources quoted by a blog on the San Jose Mercury News saying that Sony is begging developers to stick with the ps3 is credible and worth starting a thread on.

I will file this away for the times you ask to be challenged on your double standard.

Note the question mark in my subject line implying that this story is unconfirmed, and the lack of question marks regarding the posts on the unrelated Paramount rumors you dredged up.

I quoted this article as a possibility, not as a fact like many posted the Paramount rumors:
Paramount/Dreamworks go HD DVD exclusive!
Note the exclamation mark instead of question mark. Many bold statements here that turned out to be false and retracted by the site.

Paramount/Dreamworks go HD DVD exclusive!
No question marks here either. Taken as fact and not possible rumor.

No double standard here, as the question mark means the story may not be true. Nice attempt at parrying tho

Your question marks versus your exclamation marks seem to be pointless.

Sony PR Firm Pushes Paramount HD DVD Payoff!

Here you used an exclamation mark to try and discredit a true story. You even futhur try to discredit the buyout further down.

I see one question mark and one . Sounds like I was speculating there, doesn't it? And it seems everyone but you has accepted the fact that Paramount was bought off, even after all this time.

The double standard still applies. You did everything you could to trash the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and LA Times because you didn't want to believe in the buyout.

The double standard still lives on!!! (yes, and I used exclamation marks)

Dude, you have both question marks and exclamation points in there. I don't know whether to take that as fact or rumor.

Actually, it’s hearsay.

Holy crap what is going on in this thread? Have we reached a new low where people are arguing over question marks and exclamation points?

Do you have a more appropriate reponse to the following snide remark:

I think it was quite obvious that I was posting an unconfirmed rumor that may or may not be true based on the subject and content of what I posted, but ganthc apparently is always on the hunt for "Ruined credibility busters" even where they do not exist. Thus I responded as appropriately as possible to make this even more clear to him.

Hahahaha... ha... oh God, it's like... it's like Monty Python posted as you, pretending to be you, making an arguement I HAVE to think is satire...

But it's real.

We're busting balls because people use proper grammar now?

And yes, I'm fully aware of Ruined's intent with this post. He's made no secret of his dislike of the PS3, and I'm sure he takes a certain satisfaction from posting negative news and rumours about the platform.

But his point about the question mark is entirely valid. He posted a rumour and the question mark is an entirely reasonable way of denoting that.

I suppose an argument could be made that he shouldn't have posted this in the first place, considering the source isn't exactly reputable or well known, but that's an entirely different discussion.

There's plenty of threads I don't see the point of, but whatever, it's a forum, people will post stuff, it's sort of what it's for.

I don't have a problem with him posting it, I have a problem with his hypocrisy. A question mark does not magically make this any different from the many HD DVD or 360 bashing rumors he dismisses as "not news," "unfounded," "lies," or whatever else.

It's nice to have the question mark there, but acting like he's so different from Ganth or whoever else because he used it is fucking laughable, and silly you for saying otherwise.

Exactly. I am not saying that Ruined is not credible, but that he's biased and has a double standard. The two can be mutually exclusive. The hypocrisy in his trashing unnamed sources of Viacom executives who claimed Paramount was bought out, but then opening another thread with unnamed sources in a blog was the point I was trying to make. And it is a valid point, there's a double standard...not that Ruined is trash and shouldn't be listened to. I think I have stated elsewhere that I have learned a lot about technology from Ruined, we all have. But that doesn't take away from the glaring double standard when it comes to Blu-ray/Sony/PS3 and HD-DVD/Toshiba/Microsoft/Xbox360.

It's honestly a real shame that such an intelligent and valuable poster throws away all his credibility by being obviously biased toward certain formats/companies.

Yes. Let's all stick to actual verifiable news when we post, and not unsubstantiated rumors. (Especially with such overblown post titles.)

Thanks.
