Electronic Arts revenue by system (Q3 2007) Xbox 360 - $218 million PlayStation 2 - $73 million Nintendo Wii - $59 million Nintendo DS - $47 million PlayStation Portable - $21 million PlayStation 3 - $17 million Though I knew 360 was doing well, this shocked me. Now you know why EA refuses to spend months extra optimizing for PS3's unintuitive architecture - the profit from it simply isn't there yet.

Yeah thats a huge difference. I was actually wondering about this a while ago.
Funny the wii almost beats the ps3 in this category too. ![]()

The Wii did beat the PS3 substantially - nearly 4x as much money made on Wii compared to PS3. Nintendo as a whole simply fell just shy of Sony as a whole.

When I was into a lot of gaming I didn't even know EA was a canadian company, not only that but there building was only 10 miles from where I lived. Damn, I would have killed to get a job with them back than looking at the success they have now.

This actually suprises me... not because the PS3 numbers are low, EA makes american-centered games and the PS3 is doing shitty in america for the most part, plus EA advertised their 360 versions as better...
No, what surprises me is that the PS2 was beaten by the 360. There's like, a 120 million PS2s? And they sold more Madden on 12 million 360s? Or what, did crap like Battle for Middle Earth sell well on 360? That particular part is surprising and confusing to me. |

. The ea sports franchises alone are about enough to over shadow the other consoles but ea has all there other series too, Need for speed and all the EA BIG series.

Is it possible the Xbox360 and Xbox were combined into one line item there? I don't see the regular xbox listed in the sales there, and there HAS to be more xboxes than there are 360's.

They still release Madden and shit for it though, don't they?
These numbers really make no sense Ruined... like I said, there are 12 or 13 million 360s and a freaking 120 million PS2s and you're telling me every one of EA's sports and racing games sells better on 360? That just... I don't know, I guess it's possible, but... man, that would be surprising. I'll have to look up some supporting info when I'm bored. |

From the article that Ruined posted
"According to an Electronic Arts filing released yesterday, Xbox 360 alone accounted for 50 percent ($218 million) of EA's total revenue during the third quarter followed by Sony platforms with 25 percent ($111 million - PS2, PSP, PS3) and Nintendo's Wii and DS with a combined 24 percent ($106 million). Xbox 360 sales were up 31 percent over last year as Wii sales debuted at $59 million for the period followed by just $17 million in PS3 sales. PS2 sales were significantly down to $73 million from $269 million in the previous year while DS sales increased from $14 million for the quarter in 2006 to $47 this year. PSP sales dropped from $64 million in 2006 to $21 million in 2007." They made it pretty clear it was indeed the 360 sales and not original xbox.

In any case, this IS very impressive for the 360 if completely true. Way to go EA... this makes me happy actually, since this is the kind of think that will kill the Wii hype eventually. DIE WII DIE. |
