Your Monthly Games Budget
I was just curious as to what everyone spends on average for games a month. I generally buy 1-2 a month and try to pick some older games used on the cheap. I've also decided to give Gamefly a try to see if I can spend less on games. I've been known to go crazy with 5-6 games a month. So I guess on average it's about a $100 bucks a month. In the later months it increases to maybe 3-4.

I’m still not used to the $60 price tag for next-gen titles (I suffer crazy buyer’s remorse when buying games). And I’m a picky gamer, so I’m very cautious about what I buy.
That said, I usually buy around 5 games a year . I have been a Gamefly member before and plan to sign up again. It really is a good deal, especially for someone like me.

I don't have one really. There can be months were I buy 3 or 4 and then I will go 2 months without. I have also slowed down due to grad school. Takes up too much time. The last game i bought new was Mass Effect. Before that was COD4 and before that was Bioshock. I have held on to COD4, but I sold ME and BS right after I beat them. Next games on the the horizon for me are Army of Two and Smash Brothers.

I probably average around 2-3 games a month.

It depends on the games avaiable during the months and my overall finances. I have gone some months wher ei woud buy 3-5 games and go months afterwards not buying one. I do look for the used movie deals at local stores though. Some great games can be found for like $20. Sometimes i see a 2 for $40 sale and see one game i do want to buy and another very recent game i don't want. I buy them both and sometimes that game i didn't want but shelled out the $20 for will get me about $39 in store credit at BlockBuster towards my next purchase. So i plan ahead but again it all depends on the games being released, personal finances and too good to pass up deals.

Well I'm like Pirate I don't buy that many games per year and I also buy used when I can. Here lately I've been trading in older games also. Oh I could buy a new game a month but I just feel those funds could be spent a little wiser.

I used to have gamefly, but now that i cannot play games as consistently, I cancelled it. Shelling our 15 bucks a month when I may not play the game that month....I got 40 bucks for after Amazon commision for both Bioshock and Mass Effect, so I effectively paid $20 for each game. That works for me.

I don't like renting games because I often spread games out... like do one level a day or less. I have so many games to play I have a little ADD about it and bounce nightly from title to title.
I honestly buy anything that looks good and is my type of game... if it ends up really sucking I can sell it on ebay and not lose much money. |

This may be a dead thread, but screw it. It's still pertinent. I was doing some calculations the other day and finally figured out that I was spending too much money on "Gaming Experience". I used to falsely figure that I would spend a couple hundred on games per month and that's it... no harm, no foul. But that's not the case. Here is what usually happens:
1) Spend about $30 in gas to get to my favorite video game spot in the ghettos of Brooklyn. 2) Spend about $200 on average per month on games. 3) While I'm in the shop, I peruse through the inventory and I spend another $75-$100 on movies. 4) I have to eat lunch, and I'll go across the street to Burger King and spend about $10 on a Quarter Pounder meal and 2 apple pies. 5) Since I'm already in the ghetto, I stop by the weed spot to buy about $100 -$150 worth of green to get myself a little blazed before playing my games. 6) I stop by the market and spend about $50 on beer and munchies for my XBox Live nightly vigils. That's about $540 per month on my "Gaming Experience". That's pretty high (no pun intended).
