Wii: Lowest Software Average Review Scores (Ever?)

Pretty bad... not like people didn't know though. It's worth noting as well that a lot of Wii shovelware doesn't even get reviewed, and that would lower the score even more.

Somehow PS3 wins... I guess because of strong exclusives, despite a lack in quantity.

The Wii is not in the same category as the XBox or PS3, it's aimed at a completely different demographic. In most, if not all, cases the people reviewing these games are not in the target demographic so why would anyone that is give their opinions any weight?

I think this quote from the article says it best.....

"Reviewers, on the other hand, have spent years lauding technical achievements and ever more realistic gameplay. Now they have to answer a question for which their training is quite possibly ill-suited: 'Are these games fun to play?'"

Ha Ha, I love these charts. It's always nice to pick a range that makes you look like you're twice as good as the competition when really the difference is marginal.

WOW. looks like the GC was the best system of all time until the PS3 came along.

I would answer that with a big fat NO... but then, as you say, I am not the Wii's target demo. I'm not really bashing the Wii, for girls and kids and grandmas and such it's a great little thing... my girlfriend wants one and she hates games. I get that.

That chart is terrible. As Wilson points out, it's obviously been cut off to make it look like more than it should. Lame.

I don't really agree... the spread there is 10% from PS3's 74& down to Wii's 64%... When speaking acorss hundreds of titles, I think a 10% difference is rather telling.

And of course, most games get around a 7, so of course all the averages will hover there... normal distribution.

But you're looking at the numbers. What 1138 is saying is if you just look at the graph bars, you might think that the PS3 was getting around 80%, whereas the Wii was getting around 40%. Granted, anybody who knows anything about graphs should know to look at the scale at the side, but many people.. well... won't. That makes the chart misleading.

I get that... I remember my stats class. I guess what I'm saying is that relative to the average, the difference is enough to express it so... err... massively.

I learned a long time ago in a statistics class and life in general that numbers are so easily manipulated so I take anything like that with a grain of salt and say that

"Figures lie and liars figure"

While I understand that to some degree, it's sad because statistics and numbers can be very very powerful and extremely revealing if done right. They can prove or show things that go against what you'd think but are in fact reality. But then so many people try and misuse them or have a general lack of understanding of them that they learn to dimsiss them at all times. It's unfortunate.
