Got my 360 version ordered, i've just had a despatched email actually.
I wasn't sure which version to get, but the DLC & the fact that all of my friends are on 360 meant the choice was pretty much made for me. Any differences between the two will be extremely minor, and all but the most rabid of fanboys won't really care.

This is my most anticipated game in years and i've deliberately stayed away from any spoilers as i wanna go into it as fresh as i possibly can. I love this series of games, right from the top-down games on the PS1, and the previous 3 games on the PS2 probably took up more of my time than all of my other PS2 games put together. Just brilliant games with great characters & tons of humour.

Got a week off next week as well, although i'm off to Ireland for two days but once i get home on Tuesday, it's solid GTA IV all week.

Now I am definitely NOT the biggest GTA fan but I'm getting this. From the early reviews it looks like they have fixed all the annoyances that every GTA game has had. Plus my room mate is a HUGE GTA player and he doesn't have a PS3 or 360 so we're goin' halves on it.

I'm going at midnight to pick this up. I then took off the next couple of days from work to play! I'm getting the 360 version mainly for the DLC and the fact all my friends are getting it on 360 too.

I've pre-ordered the XBox360 collector's edition (had to go with the DLC and the achievements plus my TV only does 1080i). The game currently has a 99 (out of 100) rating on Metacritic!

I wasn't all that excited about GTAIV until the reviews started puring in. Tuesday can't come quick enough.

Does anyone know what's included in the collector's edition?

What is DLC? I haven't been a huge fan of GTA in the past, but this game looks incredible according to the reviews.

Downloadable content. Apparently the XBOX 360 version is getting an entire new island with new missions, plotline, etc, after the game's release via XBLM download.

That's not to say that the ps3 couldn't eventually get that same content later on, right? Or is this an exclusive content made just for the 360?

Microsoft made an (rather expensive) exclusive deal with Rockstar for the downloadable content to appear only on XBOX 360.

It includes a duffel bag, soundtrack, lock box with a keychain that has the key to the lock box, and special packaging for the game itself.
In my opinion it wasn't worth spending the extra $30 for it but to each his own.

Theres apparently a multiplayer mode where you can just get a bunch of people together and wander the streets and do whatever you so choose. I say we get all the HD-dvd people in one gang and all the BR people together and duke it out! Or..... maybe not.

I'm not dealing with stores tomorrow I have mine coming overnight. Had a little extra to spend so I felt the overnight shipping was worth not having to deal with fanboys at the brick and Mortars.

The PS3 version even if I didn't care about the DLC(which I do), as the PS3 controller does not hold a charge since I've hardly used it... and since Sony decided to make the recharbable batt inside of it, It's screwed.

Yeah, I just recently had to replace the battery of the 360 controller I got with the console at launch, $12 is a lot cheaper than $50!

You coud do what i use to do with my Genesis controller. Buy another one and replace old one in new container box for a refund. Problem solved

Hrmm... what place would let you return an open item like that for a refund?

Wal-Mart? Think they would just replace it, which would mean 2 working controllers at least lol.

If you have more than 1 controller, I'd do this,

Keep one connected to the PS3 while using another. I do the same thing with 360 controllers.

I don't get this charge thingy. I have tried out controllers that have been sitting in my cabinet for months & I still get at least 1/3 charge. If you have a second controller, I don't see this as an issue at all unless you are all out of USB cables.

Rumor: Wait, GTA IV Is Locking Up?

reports of the game locking up during/following the game's first cutscene, an error so severe you apparently have to unplug your console at the wall. Shades of Bully on 360, perhaps?

Anybody having these problems?

I get mine today, but if this report is true that both the 360 and PS3 versions are experiencing lockups, that is some pretty sad programming on Rockstar's part considering the massive delay this title had.

I dunno if you can cut to the game on the PS3 without an install. If you can, its possible people were too anxious to play this & skipped some part of the install. Quote from a comment made,

The reports are 50% fail & 50% pass on the PS3 & 50% fail & 50% pass on the 360 with 33% of the people spouting spam.

That said, if I have this problemo, a fix is already on route.

Well, from the bottom of my heart, it saddens me to say that I'm dissapointed thus far. I haven't done any missions so far, just been around the city causing havoc.

1. The cars are way to difficult to handle. Cars in RL are easier, I think they strove so far to be realistic, they overshot it.

2. Random violence is much harder lol. You can't just beat someone up without other people getting in on it for no reason that to protect their fellow man(which is counter to the tone set of previous games).

3. Your character can(and will, wheither you want him to or not) actually surrender to the cops?

4. Getting knocked out of the car in wrecks?

5. Takes too long to steal cars, with the cops hot on your tail, you'll get busted 9 times out of 10.

6. Graphics are kinda meh. Cutscenes look great, the city looks blurry.

As I say, I have not played missions, but I shudder to think how hard they will be. Hopefully we'll get the oldschool cheats to add perfect handling, that would fix many of the issues right off. Thus far, San Andreas stands as the best GTA game in my book.

Just picked my copy up.

Interesting note; at the Best Buy where I bought mine, I got one of the last two copies for the 360. They still had multiple CASES left for the PS3 version.

Well you must be playing a different GTA 4 than I am.

1. Cars are always hard to handle unless you are playing Burn out.

2. Random violence is more fun when you get the opportunity to turn it into a full scale riot. LOL IN A VIDEO GAME PEOPLE!

4. Have you ever been in a real car wreck without a seat belt on?? I haven't but I'm willing to bet at a high enough speed you are bound to be ejected.

5. I jacked plenty of cars in the same amount of time as all the other GTAs however doing it with the cops hot on your tail probably NOT the brightest of ideas. Sorry just my opinion

6. First thing I noticed where the graphics looked the best of all the GTA games.

Have the PS3 version. Friend picked it up for his 360. Neither of us have lock up issues. Folks, both versions are IDENTICAL out of the box. It really comes down to your controller preference if you're on the fence.

I to am dissapointed with the "random havoc" It's allot more difficult.
But the story missions are incredible (the story at least, expect classic PS2 GTA objectives)

Def. not a perfect 10, but close to.

Graphics are iffy, but I knew that from the previews... Game seems great so far. I'm offline 'til Friday but the singleplayer is excellent in story and tone. The cars can be annoying, but I'm sure I will get used to it... only an hour or so under my belt, need to play more.
