Microsoft changes Xbox 360 DRM policy for Live Arcade

Good news for Moonraker, Moogle and others:

Quote:
There will however be a change to DRM policy and a tool released next month that will allow 360 owners to re-license content to a single console—finally fixing the issue that forced gamers playing XBLA games to be connected to Xbox LIVE if their 360 broke down and was replaced.

Yeah, thank the fucking lord, finally.

Perhaps all of the bitching I've done on XBOX.COM for the past year+ actually was heard

DRM sucks.

It is awesome, and I agree... FINALLY.

I am moving in a couple weeks and won't have Internet for a bit, I hope this happens before then, but it probably won't.

Well, they say it will happen in June.

I will be buying an Elite whenever the next price drop happens, I think. The black color will blend in nicely with my new HT setup.

I just bought an Elite - make sure on your UPC you see 175W to make sure have the new board.

I can't use the new hard drive yet because I have to mail in a request for the HD transfer kit.

I probably will wait until the fall to buy an Elite, when Jasper is released. I already have the 120GB hard drive so its just a matter of plopping it on the new Elite.

Finally I can play Dig Dug and Doom without being connected to the internet!!! It really is about time. Well at least MS listened to people and they are willing to change it. Now I might actually upgrade to an elite with hdmi.

Will this allow me to play Xvids without being connected to the internet? Anytime my internet connection went down(and thus wasn't connected to Live), it wouldn't let me play Xvids, even off of a local harddrive.

Yeah, it was launched a few days ago or so... right AFTER I moved, dammit.

I would have preferred the timetable be 6months instead of 1yr for switching "home base." But this change is good enough IMO.

Pretty simple, though going through and downloading everything again was a pain. Somehow I have like 500 licenses even though I only own 50 arcade games and maybe a few add-on packs. Crazy.

Now my girlfriend can play Lumines!

Wait... that's a bad thing.
