Mario Kart - Wii

As is typical of Nintendo, they are unable to meet the demand for their product and now Mario Kart is nowhere to be found. I had waited a bit to see if I really wanted the game and to hear feedback from those who had played it, and now that I am ready to buy it, it's sold out everywhere. Nintendo really needs to get its act together.

The magazine I trust most, Edge, gave it a 6. Not very inspiring.

Then again I no longer own a Wii anyway.

This game is pretty good in single player modes, but it really shines with a group of people. I had some friends over last weekend and we ended up having a 3 hour session. Lots of laughing . . . lots of cursing.

I want to piss on the Wii every chance I can.

Also, in a purely Mario Kart related issue, it's sad to see a series I loved so much on the SNES and N64 turn into a piece of shit.

I really think that's overly harsh. It's still a fun game, and most of the complaints I've read aren't enough to destroy the franchise. It's just different, and a tad more frustrating.

I would say the real problem is that is's no different at all, and simplified like all other Wii titles.

I'm not trying to be a bitter sum'bitch, but I just seriously get annoyed when I think of it. "Let's make games look worse, play worse, and dumbed down to the point of retardation!"

And it sells!

It's bad enough "complicated" games like Oblivion are already simplified and neutered compared to their previous incarnations (Morrowind and Daggerfall)... now we have a whole SYSTEM setup for even MORE simplification.

Well, I’m not the same level of gamer as you are, so I can only speak from experience. When playing the Wii version, I feel like it’s just tha--a Wii version. I didn’t expect a revolutionary new game, just motion controls. The graphics look fine to me, on par with the GC. But, really, Wii isn’t much more advanced than the GC, if I understand it correctly. So, what were people looking for that they didn’t get? Hey . . . we got bikes.

You can rag on graphics and the fact it didn't advance the genre all you want. In the end if you're enjoying it, it's doing what it's intended to do.

A friend got the game for me and him while I was in Boston. So I spent all weekend playing it. Wow, what a fun game! I did find the wheel was not that good. The best control I got was with the nunchuck and the wii controller.

I kept it, but I'm somewhat of a packrat, so you shouldn't base that on me. I do like how the steering wheel fits nicely in it.

Maybe not to the same same level, but a part of me has the same complaint with a lot of Wii games.
