Just a follow-up

Installed this card Friday night in a P4 2.0 GHz with 1GB PC2700 RAM system and Half Life 2 runs like a dream (after the annoying install) at 1024x768 with 4x Anisotropic Filtering and 4x FCAA on and everything else pumped up to the highest setting.

Also runs Doom 3 smoothly at 1024x768 with the same settings and detail in the 'ultra' level (or whatever they call that highest one).

As an FYI, with Doom3 you are probably better running it at "medium" detail and enable AF through the CP or autoexec.cfg, because "Ultra" mode has 512mb of textures (no compressed textures) and "High" mode 256mb of textures (some compressed textures). "Medium" has 128mb of textures (more compressed textures). The elimination of hitching is worth it for Medium detail though, as most can't tell the difference between compressed and uncompressed textures.

I haven't picked up the full version yet (waiting to see if it's under the tree).

Ran it on the 461MB DEMO version (thank god for the T3 lines and CD burner at work).

Played it all the way through (which is the complete 'first level' of going into the facility and then all hell breaks loose and you fight your way back to where you're supposed to meet up with the other marines but they've left or died so the sargeant dude tells you to meet up with them someplace else). I'm not 100% sure if it was High or Ultra setting, I was playing around with a ton of old games and DEMOs with the new card just to see what it could do (playing AquaNox 2 with everything pumped up at 1280x1024 was sweet!), but I do know that everything else was set to it's highest setting and it ran 100% smooth. A little clipping at times, but that's about it. I'll try it later with the VSYNC on and see if that takes care of it.
