This card is a good upgrade for someone coming from a GeForce4 or earlier, GeForce FX, or Radeon 9600 series. It will offer over triple the performance of any of these cards. It is also significantly faster than a 9700PRO/9800PRO, but if you are upgrading from the 9700/9800 cards, you are probably better going for a $299 6800GT as it will make a much larger difference.
