XBox Live Gold - $19.99 at Best Buy (March 12th)

Just caught this on the IGN Boards and is more then likely a misprint but worth taking over to Circuit City for a price match if Best Buy corrects themselves. Its the 12 months of Live, Headset, 200 marketplace Points and Bankshot Billiards. Sadly i think its only for American Best Buys so good luck

Its coming out in This Weeks Flyer, but soem say they don't come until Sunday. So maybe head to your local BB and grab a flyer and run over to another store to price match. Some posters on the IGN Boards have called there local stores and have said that it was a mistake and should be $49.99, but are trying to price match when they get the flyer at Wal-Mart, Target and Circuit City. Some states have a law that must honor the price on paper. So you might get lucky their too.

That's a bargain! It's a shame we don't get that in the UK.

We only have the 12 month subscriptions on their own, which are UK £39.99, unless you find them cheaper online or are lucky enough to find a cheap Xbox starter kit, as these register as Gold subscriptions on the 360.

Hmm. I hope MS sees the buzz on this and drops the price of live gold.

At $20/yr this is compelling. Not so much at $50, considering what you get.

$50 a year isn't too bad a price, but the point being that at $20 a year it is almost impossible to argue against the price. The problem is going to be when the PS3 comes out and charges a fee (and maybe Rev?). How will people pay $50 for each? That's two whole games they're not getting in favor of online features. I know the obvious choice is to choose one or the other service, but I think many people will own both systems and want to play both online.

Well, unless Sony completely knocks one out of the park on their very first try, I'd say the choice will be pretty simple. Xbox Live for the 360 is an absolutely top-notch, first class service. Even if Sony's online system matches what the original Xbox Live was like, the choice is still clearly Xbox Live 360.

Not that the original Xbox Live was bad. On the contrary. It was great. But it still pales in comparison to Xbox Live 360.

Then again, it really ought to be about the games. If Sony's online service doesn't quite match Xbox Live, but they have some awesome games you can't match on the Xbox, then the choice should be simple too.

Which is why I don't think it will be simple at all. There are obviously going to be great games on both systems. The XBOX 360 already has some, but there should be no doubt the PS3 will have its share, too. The issue might come down to who has the marquee titles, but even then this generation there have been incredible titles for each system worth playing.

Just wondering if anyone was able to get a price match on the LIve Kit? Thread over at the IGN boards have had a few success stories so far with most buying 3 at a time. Wal-Mart seems to be the place to hit with the price match and one even got EB to match the price today.
