No DTS sound on Planet Apes..but 5.1 works...

Well, well, was at Target today and saw it on sale for 18 bucks, so I snatched it up. Took it home for my wife to view (I saw it in the theater, she didn't..) and tried to set DTS as our sound and got dead silence. Thought my machine was all kooky. Swithced it to the lame ole 5.1 and got sound and proceeded to watch...Anyone have this same problem? I see other glitches listed and I don't seem to suffer from them. Only other complaint was a slow layer transfer where they bust out of the door in the tunnels after escaping the city..

Welcome to the forum 6thFloor!

I assume you've done DTS (which is also 5.1, just like Dolby Digital) on other discs?

Yes DTS works on all my other discs. This is the only disc I have ever had a problem with.
In fact this problem is what led me to the glitch forum here at DVD file. Cool site by the way, I hang out here a couple times a week to get my DVD fix when I ain't at the Mall hounding the employees for release dates and disk data....My players auto detects and when I set DTS for this flick it didn't even register on my machine. All other DTS disks work, so its not the player or receiver, just that disk..Oh well, Any word if FOX is going to swap out bum discs with good discs??

You might want to try exchanging the disc for another one. Maybe your current one is just defective.
