Star Wars Episode I: Missing Huttese subtitles

A weird question (don't know if anyone else is having this problem):I don't see the onscreen subtitles on my Star Wars: Episode I DVD (they're there on my neighbor's Sony player). These are not the foreign language or English subtitles, but rather the titles that appear onscreen when Watto, Sebulba or Anakin are speaking Huttese. I've gone through every possible setting for the player (Philips DVD702) and the television (Panasonic)...any ideas?
