007 - The Man With The Golden Gun DVD
Hey Y'all
I was curious to know if anyone who has a copy of TMWTGG has had any problems with their disc. Apparently it will work on RCA DVD Players, but as soon as you reach Ch. 21 or 22, it messes up. I have done some research on this, and to my relief, I'm not alone. Just being curious, that's all thanks.

I saw this on my 1st generation RCA 5500P player & it worked just fine! Haven't watched it on my new JVC player though?

Are U saying it WORKS fine on RCA players? Or it messes up on Chapter 21/22 on an RCA Player?
Yes to both questions. Here's how I tried it. The menu screens and the extra features have no problem. When you watch the movie on any RCA player. Only Ch. 1-21 work with no glitch, but when you reach CH. 22 - end, it garbles, a very noticable glitch. Please let me know if that makes some sense. Thanks

This was a known glitch on early (?) pressings of TMWTGG. My PC based players (Hollywood +) have the problem (it is at the layer switch) They almost solved the problem with driver updates. Some standalone DVD players use DVDROM drives in their units and that might account for the problems on some players. Supposedly they changed the encryption key on the second layer. There was some sort of return program that was not very well publicised. Since that is the only movie I can't play on my PCs I didn't bother and used it as an excuse to buy my Sony DVPS560D. I think "The Beach" may have the same problem but you couldn't make me watch it again to check.I use TMWTGG at work to verify operation of DVD players in for repair.
