"Moulin Rouge!" DTS Lip-Sync problem...
Has any one else out there had a noticable "Lip-Sync" problem with the DTS soundtrack to the recently released "Moulin Rouge"? It's most noticable on "Chapter 9. Your Song" in which the opening lines of the song out of Ewan McGregor's mouth are very much off the movements of his lips. The problem doesn't seem to exist on the Dolby Digital soundtract, which is frustrating because the DTS track is a noticably superior soundtrack.
By the way, my DVD player is the Integra DPS-9.1 Jeff C. ![]() |

I've got the problem and I can replicate it on two different setups. I bought the movie back in January.
I play the disc on a Pioneer DV-440 and its decoded by a Kenwood VR-605 receiver. I can also replicate the problem on my Granddad's equipment, a Panasonic DVD player (RV-32, I think) and a Technics SA-DX950 receiver. |

Given the diversity of DVD player makes/models being reported, it sounds like a dts audio mastering problem.
For those who have NOT experienced the problem, please post your DVD player make/model. Peace.....

I'm glad someone posted this thread because I though that I was crazy...okay...let the comments forming in your minds pass for now. I have not tried the DD to see if I have the same problem there. My player is a Toshiba 3109. To be truthful I enjoyed the movie so much, that little tiddle doesn't bother me in the bit and it certainly doesn't affect the awesome sound!

The DTS sync problem is well known. Check any DVD internet forum and you'll find countless discussions on it going back all the way to December. From what I've heard, no one can confirm whether Fox has fixed the problem in any new pressings. Meanwhile, they have remained mute when it comes to acknowledging the problem. Supposedly after numerous e-mails, they promised to look into it, but nothing has been heard from them since then. It has been at least four months.

Does anybody know if the upcoming Jan. 14th single disc release of Moulin Rouge will fix the DTS sync problem? The realist in me says it will probably just be a re-issue of disc 1 from the previous 2 disc set, but miracles do happen...
It's quite embarrassing that a THX-certified feature has a problem such as this. |
