Rollerball VHS w/ no sound...

I know it's not a dvd issue, but I thought it was very odd, and you guys might be interested.

I borrowed the remake of Rollerball from my local library (because I would never pay a single cent to see it). Anyway, the tape has absolutely no sound on it. At all. Not even the trailers.

Is this a common occurance, a manufacturing defect, etc??

From my VHS experiences, when you don't get any audio, your VCR usually has a tracking problem. I've never had a video where the audio disappears completely, but I've had bad tracking problems where the audio drops in and out.

I actually rented the Rollerball remake (DVD version) last night and thought it was OK. Nowhere near McTiernan's best work, but he did a good directing job with the material that he was given.

It was actually kind of enjoyable listening to the commentary track with Chris Klein and Rebecca Romijn-Stamos. Chris Klein's comments were actually one of the better actor commentaries I've heard, talking about what training he had to do, which stunts he did himself and which ones the stuntmen did, location or sequence in which certain scenes were filmed, etc. LL Cool J, on the other hand, was a blithering idiot.

It was worth a rental to see, but not worth buying. Jean Reno is my favorite French actor and is always a badass in his films. He does help make this film a bit more bearable to watch.

The poll isn't necessary, right? (No options for people who may have happened to have liked the movie, few as they may be.) and this is the DVDFile forum, not the VHSFile forum, so let's just close this one down.
