Sony DVP-S360 problem w/ playing VCD's?

My DVD player specifically states on the box & website that it can play video CD, but whenever I put one in, it doesn't work! Does anyone know what the problem might be?

Is it a VCD you burned yourself? Maybe it's a CD-R vs CD-RW issue....

I'm not familiar with that player so I can only guess...

Peace.....

The DVP-S360 cannot read CD-R disks but should be able to read a VCD burned on CD-RW. It's a question of reflectivity not the format. Because of this even the brand of disk can make a difference when you burn a disk.

I have 3 Sony players and all three will play a VCD.

Older generation players might not play a VCD if it is a CD-R or CD-RW burn.

The DVP-S360 is the entry level model 2 years ago, I believe, a step down from the DVP-S560.

SO if this is a burned disk, then that's probably your issue. If it is not a burn, then if could be a VCD issue if the VCD for example if the VCD has PCB functions or not.

Also is the VCD an import? Could be a PAL vs NTSC issue also.

Lastly, DVD manufacturers due claim that not all VCD's can be DVD compatible.
