Poltergeist Problem

I did a search of the forum but didn't find any info so I figured I'd ask.

In Poltergeist, in the scene where the mom is showing Craig T. Nelson the ghost activity (where there daughter wears a football helmet and slides across the floor.), and Craig T. Nelson sits against the wall. The mother starts talking to him and then in mid sentance it cuts to Craig and his wife across the street talking to their neighbor. Is this a mistake on all discs....or is it just an error on my disc.

Newagegunn,

I haven't heard of that. I don't have the disk, so I can't check it for you myself.

Anyone have this title and can shed some light on this?

I think that was actually an intended edit. Your attention was supposed to be on Steven (Craig T. Nelson's character) and that look of cold horror on his face. He wasn't paying attention to his wife, his daughter, or any of his surroundings and I can only assume that Spielber...er..Hooper's intention was that you weren't supposed to be either. He was thinking about what this meant for his family. What his wife was saying was merely background noise to him. That's my guess. I'm probably wrong.

I agree that it is a bit jarring and I'll admit that I hadn't noticed it until I bought the DVD. Hmmmmm.
