I need help getting a technical term for a DVD I'm having problems with.

Hey guys,
I got The Escaflowne Movie: Ultimate Edition in today from DVD Planet, unfortunetly the disc seems to be "buggered" (in a more friendly way then I'd put it at least). When it hits a certain area (52 mins and 56 seconds to be exact), the image becomes scrambled, big huge blocks of green, and other nasty colors completely botch up the video.. is there a more specific term for this? I'm writing my paper out for DVD planet and would like to be a little more specific with my problem.

Oh, and I'm positive I got a botched disc, at first I thought it was my player not handeling the layer switch too well, but then I tossed it in my xbox, got the same problem.. then my DVD-Rom drive, same problem, was seriously enjoying the movie up until then too

I believe you are experiencing what we call "pixelation" and it sounds like you are experiencing a SEVERE case of it.

Peace......

Here's what it looks, should've attached it in the first place.

Ok, I think "severe pixelation" most certainly DOES apply, but I think "defective DVD" is a more accurate assessment, in this case.

See if you can get a replacement DVD.

Peace....

Did you try cleaning the disk first?

And that has to be the worse example of pixelization I have ever seen.

DVD Planet seems to be pretty good with exchanges, you shouldn't have a problem.

Try Cleaning it...?
Ooops... the idea of that sorta never even came close to entering my mind.. heh, oops again. Well, I did check out the back of the disc, it looked perfect.. and then again I don't really have the proper materials to clean off a disc, maybe I should grab some of that tomorrow.

Glad to hear that DVD Planet is good with exchanges.. because it'll seriously be comming in handy this time. This is one of the very few times I've ever had to actually ship something off to do it being, well.. screwed up. So I'm very glad to hear that about DVD Planet.

I sent off the dvd nicely packaged on Saturday, so hopefully they should have it by now or very soon, and hopefully I should get a replacement (and hopefully a proper working one).

Yeah, I really don't think it was a layer change to be honest, if it was, my other players would've been able to handle it (my main one doesn't take too kindly to them at times).

Thank you for the responses by the way, I wasn't expecting even more then one on this subject!

So thanks!

Escaflowne Ultimate (Feature Disc) and Regular DVD Problems (07:15 AM EST): This information came into us today:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With the release of the Escaflowne - Ultimate Edition 3 disc set and the standard edition this past Tuesday - We have received a number of complaints regarding the "feature" disc of this release. Further investigation revealed that a small batch of the "feature" disc were defective during the replication process. If you have a copy that freezes when played at the 12th Chapter point - please contact our customer service department at support@bandai-ent.com for a replacement. The support team will send you an authorization number and instructions on how to return their defective product.
Please note that we will only be issuing replacements to those that have purchased the DVD in Canada/United States and are currently residing in Canada/United States.

We should recive the replacement discs in approximately 2 weeks. Please note that we are only asking for the “feature” defective disc itself. (Keep the DVD case/the feature disc was held in – we will only be sending out the disc itself in terms of replacement). Upon contacting support@bandai.com you will recive an authorization # as well as instructions on how to return your DVD.

I pulled this off animeondvd.com, so it wasn't just me who had this problem.
