My Ghostbusters DVD and the horrific flickering video commentary

OK, does anybody else expierience problems on thier Ghostbuster DVD with the video commentary flickering like a strobe light? The three little sillouettes are there, but they flicker endlessly...is this how its supposed to be? Or is my player just crappy...its an RCA 522OP

The Ghostbusters video and audio commentary are on subtitle track 4 of 4 and audio track 2 of 2. You cannot play the commentary in 5.1 mode, it's defaults to 2.0.

Also the video commentary will not play in 16x9 mode. In order to view the video commentary you must be in 4x3 mode. If you are using a standard TV, then this doesn't apply to you.

When I am in 4x3 and the video commentary is on, I got all three characters, totally black, but there is a white-ish ring around the edge of them (almost like edge enhancement) that is not completely solid, nor is it totally flickering. I think it's there basically to get distiguishable detail inbetween the video commentary figures and the action happening on screen.

Now, if memory serves, I think there was a Ghostbusters C.S. re-issue, but I couldn't find any other info on it. My spine # is 04139 and I bought mine single, not out of the Ghoastbusters two-pack.

I'd try your disk on another player to see what it does, just in case it's a compatibility issue with your player. If it plays fine on another machine, then there's your answer.

Hope this helps...

Taco, I have the same player, and I get the same annoying flickering commentary as well. It looks like its our player.

I have some trouble with Disney's The Kid, sometimes (not all) it pauses (like a layer change) but it happens multiple times...it looks like at the chapter stops.
It also has had some trouble with some Universal discs, like The Mummy Returns, when you try to navigate the menus, it would occasionally just black out the screen instead of going to the selected bonus feature...I just push the menu or the ch up button, and everything is fine.
Except for that, I can't complain.
