Problem on Simpsons Season Two DVD

On disk 1 of the Simpsons Season Two DVD set I keep experiencing a problem on my Toshiba SD-1600 player. Somewhere in the middle of the episode "Two Cars in Every Garage and Three Eyes on Every Fish" (near the end of 4-2) the picture and sound begin to get garbled... the sound cuts in and out and large squares pollute the screen. Early in the next chapter, the screen eventually freezes... although I can still get out to the main menu. This problem persists throughout the rest of this episode into the next one ("Dancing Homer" 5-1 through 5-5). Although I haven't played the rest of the disk all the way through, it seems from a quick scan of all the other episodes on Disk 1 that this problem does not occur elsewhere. I tried stopping, turning-off, and restarting the player, and the problem re-occurs in exactly the same spot. I have never had a problem with skipping, etc. on this DVD player, and I'm wondering if anyone else has had the same problem.

Also, anyone know who I can contact at 20th Century Fox to report the problem?

Thanks.

I had a problem playing this ep. as well/ I had to stop my dvd player and re-start it to get this ep. to play, and then it froze up twice while I was watching it. I was, however, able to watch the complete episode without pauses the second time around.

Same problem

My husband and I are experiencing the same problem with our DVD. In the 2 cars... episode it flakes out about the time Monty comes over for dinner. After this the rest of the episode is unwatchable and the following episode, Dancing Homer will not launch either.

Have not tried the rest of the disks, will post with any further problems.

We have a Toshiba SD-2200 DVD player (you may remember this player causing problems with movies such as Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Army of Darkness). Yay.

If anyone has info on either reporting this problem or obtaining a new copy it would be much appreciated.

I have a SONY DVD player and this has happened to mine also! Except its on the episode of Bart Gets hit by a Car. Im watching it now and it happened RIGHT at the 9:00 mark. The damn thing just froze. It wouldnt forward, rewind or anything. The bitch is, I have the EXACT same problem with season 1 on the episode where Homer dances with the belly dancer. I tried the DVDs on my other DVD player and it played perfect. I dont know what the damn problem is.

We have a Memorex MVD2026 DVD Player, and it'll lock up, without fail, on the opening "spinning heads" intro on Disc 1. It will lock up the player after the third "spinning head", and I'll have to power down the machine to reset it. This renders Disc 1 unplayable.

I have no problems with the other Discs.

Is there any contact information to Fox DVD?

Instead of making the heads spin, try pressing "Menu" on your remote to go to the main menu immediately.

Bad Disc

This problem sounds very similar to the one i experienced with the first season on the second disc. The problem with that edition was a bubble in the disc. This problem was quite frequently encountered and from the sounds of it this is your problem with the second season.

I would recomend seeing if you can exchange it for another copy.

Ive got a Sony DVP-NC600.

It froze on the exact same DVD on the next episode Blow Fish. WHen it freezes, alot of white lines appear next to the image. But Ive also noticed something strange, sometimes when it goes to another scene real quick, I see big white bars around an object. It looks like their interlaced and its messing up, but when I rewind a few times to see it again, they dissapear. The same shit happens on my LOTR DVD. But none of this happens on my other DVD player which is an interlaced Panasonic played on a regular 32' TV. My Sony though is played on a progressive scan HDTV, so Im guessing thats causing the screw ups.

Just a follow-up.

My replacement copy of the Simpsons Season 2 set seems to be ok. The episodes in question now play flawlessly on my player. It looks as if, due to the fact that at least one other person had a problem in the exact same location I experienced my glitch, there just may be a small bad batch out there...
