Star Trek II: TWOK DE French subtitles

Hello, I was wondering if the issue I have is a real problem, or just the way the disc was made.

Well, here it is: My Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan Director's Edition works fine on my DVD player (which is a Panasonic DVD-A120) except for the French subtitles. It seems that when I turn the French subtitles on, they don't appear when dialogue is being spoken and only appears when some type of text appears during the movie (like at the beginning for example, when the words "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan" appear, the subtitle "Star Trek II: La Colere De Khan" appears). However, as said before, the French subtitles never appear for anyone's dialogue.

I'm not French or anything and I probably would never watch the movie with French subtitles, but even the tiniest DVD defect bothers me b/c I'm obsessive that way about my DVD's (they are my babies, after all LOL).

I'm hoping that for some odd reason this is normal and the producers of this DVD intended it to be this way, but for the life of me I don't know why they would, so I'm thinking there's something wrong with my player or disc.

Thanks for your help!

Stone Cold,

My DVD works the same way. The French subtitles does not work along with the movie dialog. The French language track works fine though.

Gotcha. Thanks for the help. It's well appreciated! I noticed that from the main menu of the movie DVD, it won't let you choose French subtitles anyway; only English. So I guess we can pretty much conclude that, indeed, the DVD was made this way. Thanks again!
