Speed 5 star edition Disc 1 -- Damn french

Anyone know how to turn off the damn french subtitles that only appear when english writting is on the screen??

I have my apex AD600A set to subtitle off and they still show. Also i have switch to other subtitles and they don't show (however the other subs do and i don't want them).

Since the subs are french i can assume that they only occur on the canadian print.

Please Help.

Is this the region 1 copy? Are there separate Canadian and U.S. releases?

Peace....

Region 1

Yes it is region one and there are sperate DVD releases in canada and in the US. A lot of dvd's have different releases in canada either because of releaser or content (You can get away with more in a film in canada) or just to have the Canadian rating on the disc or most notably because of french.

Subtitles

I have this same problem with all the X-Files DVD box sets. If I turn on any of the subtitles and then switch them to off, whenever there is a burned in subtitle, like naming the location such as "FBI Headquarters" etc, they always show up in french. Seems to be a problem with Fox DVDs only
