The Fog SE

At about 9:17 into the Tales From the Mist-Inside The Fog (new documentary) the picture pixelates 3 or 4 times for about 30 seconds. Never got to check out the movie. I have a Philips Magnavox DVD835. I hate having to ship back to DDD.

Can you try it on another make/model of DVD player to eliminate your player as having a problem with that particular disc?

Peace.....

tomdkat. I don't have access to another at home & I had a return label on hand for DDD so it's already in the mail. If the replacement does the same thing I'll let one of my nephews friends borrow it (something I rarely do) to see if it is a problem with the disc or my player's compatibility with it. It's not the movie so if I have to live with a few pauses in the documentary so be it. Thank you very much for your advice though. If I hadn't already shipped it back I'd give that a try now.

I just noticed a problem that I'm having with the movie itself. Uh, not the movie , the movie.

Player: Panasonic DVD-A310

ch 30 1:24:25 starts stuttering, really baaad pixellation at 1:24:33

ch 31 1:24:59 - 1:25:03 stutter, completely stopped one time through, more pixellation.

"stuttering" to me means it's like some gremlin has a hold of the control and pauses, plays, pauses, but not always in the same rhythm, or duration.
"pixellation" - the whole picture just falls apart!

I played the same scenes on my Toshiba Satellite 5005-S504 laptop with absolutely no errors (but isn't that typical with this type of thing? The processer compensates or something?) -- I don't have access to another non-computer DVD player to test this on until this weekend.

My brother and I bought 2 discs and one of them pixled 1 hr 14 minuts in the movie and continued 4-5 times to the end.
If you held the disc to the light you could see that it was badly pressed with damage to the disc...
The other disc was fine though

My copy of THE FOG SE worked just fine until about 5 minutes into the 1980 documentary where it literally just STOPPED as Jamie Lee Curtis' talking head came up. Thought it was strange. MGM discs have always been questionable to me. I didn't try to exchange it to get another copy.

Well, The Fog plays just fine on my Mom's newer player, an APEX APX AD1200. (sigh) Out of about 100+ discs run through my player, this is the only one with a problem. It's not worth it (to me) to return the disk, as the problem happens during a quiet moment.
