Roger Waters: In the Flesh Live – weird sound dropouts

My favorite DVD went weird on me!

I bought it in March this year and listened (viewed) it A LOT! It worked flawlessly. Suddenly last week weird sound dropouts began. They were completely random and very short (definitely less than a second). The craziest thing was, if I rewind back to the spot where the dropout occurred, it would play fine and the dropout will happen somewhere else!

My first thought was that the disk is dirty. I cleaned it carefully but it didn’t help. Dropouts again and again completely random.
My second thought was my player is dirty or giving up on me so I tried several other DVD’s. They all played flawlessly. Put Waters in again – random dropouts again!

So I took the disk to my neighborhood Future Shop and thanks to really good relationship that I have with them (and my persistence) I replaced it. The new disk plays flawlessly (nock on wood)!

The weird thing is that I couldn’t see any physical flaws on the old disk. Everything looked perfect on the surface of the disk. The only thing that I noticed is that the see through centre of the disk was kind of bubbly (unfortunately I do not know if it was like that from the beginning) as on attached image, and the new disk is completely clear.

So you guys who have this DVD, check out your copy. Hopefully it was just a bad luck with my first disk, not a general problem.
