Treasure Planet bad pressing??

Help.

I rented a copy of Treasure Planet on DVD from Hollywood Video and there is a section of the disc that causes no end of trouble.

At the middle of Chapter 19, the movie's video breaks up with lots of pixelating and sometimes the disc locks up the playback completely. I checked to make sure there are no scratches or smudges on the disc and the problem is still happening on my Panasonic DVD-S35K player and on my computer's DVD-ROM playback (I use a BTC 316C drive).

I wonder did I get a bad pressing of the DVD? I might need to talk with the rental store and ask them to return the disc to Buena Vista Home Entertainment to get a replacement.

Could be a bad disc...I would certainly try exchanging it. I've got Treasure Planet and have watched it a couple times with no problems.

I returned the disc back to Hollywood Video and they did confirm it was a bad pressing--the store manager checked the disc on a player in the store (he even used a DVD disc cleaner!) and it still caused screen pixelation and player freezeups in the middle of Chapter 19. In a generous gesture, he got me a replacement rental disc and even refunded the rental cost!

I had the same problem with my disc. There were no scratches but after many attempts of cleaning the disc, the dvd was even worse than when I first tried to view.

I called Buena Vista and they mailed me a replacement with no problems. Woohoo!

No, the problem is

that your DVD player is allergic to shoddy Disney adaptations of its own old properties. Look out, "Atlantis 2"!:p
