Die Another Day: The glitches begin
Well, I picked up the new Die Another Day today and popped that puppy in my Toshiba 3109 and I thought everything was going great...put the sound on DTS and I was off until every once and a while the sound would cut out briefly. When I rewound to check the spot the sound was fine. Once, twice, four times, finally on the sixth time this happened I popped it out and returned it. I have yet to view the newbie but I'll let you know. I also noticed that there seemed to be a DTS lipsync problem from time to time. At times the sound is phenomenal so I hope that it was just a bad disc.
Later...

At what point did the skipping begin? I watched the opening sequence...up to right after the credits/song ended.

I came here for the first time to post a topic about this problem also.
On the DTS setting the audio is off in SOME parts when watching it on my Toshiba 5109. It is obvious if you watch the part where Jinks says her name for the first time to bond on the beach. |

Picked it up at Best Buy yesterday, and the DTS track plays fine on my Panasonic RP91 connected to a Denon AVR-3802 receiver. I assume the problem to which you refer is something other than Madonna's song in the titles, which is supposed to sound like it's cutting off suddenly (listen to it on the Die Another Day website for comparison (http://jamesbond.com).

I just returned my defective copy with the skipping DTS track. Replaced one sounds fine, no problems yet.....
I pre-ordered mine online and the free Bond Girls DVD was missing. During my exchange, at the Best Buy store, I explained both problems. They gave me the FREE dvd with the exchange. Best Buy online is useless! |

I've sampled several chapters of the movie, including the beach scene and I haven't noticed any synch problems, or skipping problems. I'm using an old Pioneer DV-414.

Update:
I just watched the whole movie and I had no "skipping" problems, or any cases of dialog being out of synch. I guess it affects certain players more than others. ![]()

I saw the DTS lipsync problems with a JVC XV-511. Didn't have any skipping on the part we watched (we stopped around the intro where Bond gives the Koreans the diamonds.) Switched to DD and no problems.
We did see a video breakup near the end in the Moneypenny sequence, but rewound it a few times and the problem didn't come back, so that was probably some gook on the DVD.... |

Here is yet another dts lip sync problem report:
http://www.dvdfile.com/interactive/f...threadid=33074 Looks like Chromy had problems too on his Denon DVD-2900, I'm guessing. Peace...

Another Die Another Day glitch
On my APEX AD-500, the movie keeps skipping back... say I'm watching the scene where Bond detonates the briefcase full of diamonds... suddenly it'll skip BACKWARDS to, say, the General beating the guy inside the punching bag. It happened like 10 times through the movie. Sometimes it would skip into what seemed like a multi-angle "how'd they do that" thing, but I wasn't aware this disc had one (the "how'd they do that" I noticed was Toby Stephens talking about playing the general and this took place right after the Colonel finds out Graves' true identity). I know my player is old, but it shouldn't be having problems like this with a disc.

Well, I finally checked this out and DID experience the audio sync problems on the dts audio, like others here have. I experienced the problem on my Pioneer DV-656a and Panasonic DVD-XP30 DVD players.
Outside of that, the dts audio rocked! Chapter 11 is the chapter that I saw the sync problem the most, when Bond introduces himself (when he says his name). Peace...

The free Bond Girls dvd is a Best Buy thing. You buy it by itself and it's like $15, but free when you bought DaD.

Toshiba Freezes
I haven't tried the movie yet, that's for tomorrow, but the second disc completely freezes my DVD player (Toshiba SD-4700) when I try to access the Madonna Video. I get a completely green screen and no buttons work (remote or front panel). I have to unplug the player and plug it back in to even eject the DVD!
I tried it in my computer and it seems to work. I've never had any glitches in my player before. -Tim |

This is getting me worried. I haven't watched the movie yet except for the opening scene. But i think i was watching it in DD-EX and not DTS-ES
I hope nothing is worng with my disc as Toshiba Players seem to be getting the problem the most. I too am a Toshiba DVD Player owner (SD2800) playing on my Marantz SR4300 Receiver

I noticed the lip--sync problems on the DTS track as well. That is the only problem I have experienced with it but I might have to revisit the Moneypenny scene to see if I have the video problem others have reported.

So, I loaned my Netflix rental of Die Another Day and he reported severe audio problems during the "read this" scene where people are fighting. He was listening to the DD audio on his JVC (still don't know the model #) DVD player.
Anyone else have any problems with the DD audio? Peace...

When I rented this from Netflix the DTS was waaaaayyyyy out of synch, it was really distracting, I switched to the DD and everything was happy.
I have had bad luck with Bond flicks. My copy of Tomorrow Never Dies:LE has subtitles that pop up randomly only they are not what is in the movie, there is some pretty funny, senseless, and randy dialogue someone put on the DVD.

I just played Die Another Day on my Toshiba 2109 also. I too noticed a sync problem with the DTS dialogue - but it is intermittent. I purchased my copy previously-viewed so I don't think I can take it back for one that is "better". This is disappointing since it is the first Bond release with DTS. I trust MGM will work the bugs out for future releases. Too bad - since I keep telling everyone how much better DTS is over Dolby
